running it back would have been with Cobra as well....This all comes down to the Zinger trade, time will tell if it was the right move! Locking up the J's is a good thing though, Celtics are not an ideal FA destination.....

I don't necessarily love it on the face of things, but what perplexes me is why people don't understand the economics of the league. The Celtics had little choice. And for those saying he's the highest player, well, that will be short lived due to timing and the economics of the league. Their core is locked up. That's what wins championships. Not players 8-12.

The contract is what it is. The CBA has changed, and the salary cap and revenue have only increased. No player is worth what they are getting these days, but that is the reality.

Well, we'll see what happens in a year when the Celtics are over the 2nd apron and can't make any moves to improve the team other than to sign minimum salary players.

Al Horford’s contract was terrible and when he was traded back to Boston he almost brought home banner 18. Brown is young, healthy and just had career highs in scoring, rebounds and assists. Even if he isn’t a “great contract” like his current one is …. he is a really good player so an overpay isn’t a killer. Brogdon was an overpay too and his contract is not a killer either.

Besides….he is not the highest paid player in the league. He is the 40th highest paid player this year and will be the 7th or 8th highest in year 1 of extension. 7th or 8th richest contract for the 20th best player is far from an ‘albatross’

Correction: his salary will be #2 next year at 52 million. I had previously seen an estimate of 50 million. In any event there will be 10 players making 49 million or more.

You do realize much of the league will be in the same position due to the new CBA?

How is that different from this year ? Fwiw we’ll probably pay similar amount of lux tax next as we did this year. The raise in Jaylen’s money is mostly offset by KP making 7 mill less and the 2nd apron going up by a decent amount

KP is making 5 million more than JB this year. If team is unhappy with contract (they won’t be) they can still try to move it before next season.

that may be true, but is he a good fit? We shall see, "unfinished business" should change to "the time is now"

People in the media have been talking like Porzingod is just "some guy" they picked up like he doesn't matter. They're in for a rude awakening I think next year when they see him on the court with our team.

If Zinger stays moderately healthy and produces like last year he will be an absolute steal on his contract compared to a ton of deals.

depends on who we get? The NY Knicks/Mavericks Zinger or the Wizards Zinger?! Hopefully we get the best of Zinger

They can try. I guess you have a salary to match if Luka wants out of Dallas.

I think JB plus 3 #1s would be ultra-competitive if any top 10 player demanded a trade and the Celtics ever felt a need to make a change. Which is why I have always maintained this was a no-brainer move even if you are a hater.

if KP is healthy and plays he will produce better than last year. Playing off Tatum will make him a clear cut 2nd option.

Brown should become the 3rd option behind Porzingis. Focus on defense and become more of a cutter/slasher on offense instead of that **** iso ball.

I'll say this: with this contract, I kinda don't care anymore if Jaylen has an issue with his role or whatever. You're making $300 mil, **** complaining and let's win a title.

Return to Boston Celtics
