The bar is set pretty low for these new owners. It's hard to imagine that a team could be worse run than we have been under MJ. We could probably improve as a franchise just by them clearing out all of Jordan's family and friends.

But I just have a hard time believing these guys are really going to put the money and resources behind the team.

I think the most likely scenario is status quo. It's just a slight shift and ownership percentages with basically the same people involved in the same high-ranking positions. The friends and family stick around, Mitch, Buzz, Jordan's brother, Mitchs son, Polk and all Clifford and the Scouting staff, all stick around and nothing actually really changes.

At least get a new medical staff

He's a Jordan Brand athlete.

Safe to say our league reputation is in the toilet, if not sewer.

Hopefully the new owners, if nothing else, take being owners more seriously than MJ does. His brand athletes taking shots at us just makes us look even worse.

I know.

It's ironic that he's trashing on Charlotte without realizing (or not caring about) the connection to Jordan

Not like it was a commentary about us as an organization - we had a terrible record last year, would have been the same thing if he said HOU or SAS or DET.

Is that really a shot at us though?

He's not trashing the city of Charlotte. Just the team.

He also went to school in Durham so it's not like he hates NC.

All three of those have been relevant this century...only us and Washington are truly irrelevant

But he wasn't talking about us being irrelevant

So MJ apparently suited up in 2010 with the bench and beat the starters in a practice game. Stephen Jackson shrugged his shoulders when asked if he was embarrassed and said "that's why he's the goat and why I was wearing his shoes."

He was a bad owner, but no doubt he's the best player to ever lace them up.

"our 2nd team wasn't a bunch of scrubs now"

thats not how I remember it, Jack must have a way higher opinion than me of Stephen Graham and Hughes/Flip or whoever else was playing our backup 3 in 2010. let alone Diop or the corpse of Theo Ratliff or whoever else we were throwin out there

“As lifelong fans of the game of basketball and the NBA, we’re well aware of the importance of the sport in the Carolinas and we’re thrilled to take a controlling stake in the Hornets. We’re excited about the organization’s future. Charlotte is a great city and a thriving sports town. The Hornets fan base is one of the most passionate in all of sports. It is a privilege to own an NBA team. We understand the Hornets are a community asset and it is our responsibility to be good stewards for this franchise representing our community and entire fan base.

“Our vision is to take the Hornets to the next level, both on and off the court. We will look to build a highly competitive basketball team, develop innovative business practices, give back to our community and connect with our fans. We plan to further invest in the team, the facilities and the fan experience, with the goal of delivering a winner to our fans throughout the Carolinas. We are confident that our successful business backgrounds and our previous experience as NBA minority owners will be beneficial as we shape the future of the franchise as a best-in-class organization.”

Plotkin and Schnall will serve as Co-Chairmen of HSE and will rotate the team’s governorship every five years, beginning with Schnall.

Schnall, who will serve as Co-Chairman & Governor, had been a minority owner of the Atlanta Hawks and an alternate governor on the NBA Board of Governors since 2015. While with Atlanta, Schnall was involved in various aspects of the Hawks team building process as well as the renovations to State Farm Arena. Schnall is co-president of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice LLC, where he has worked for 27 years.

Plotkin, who will serve as Co-Chairman & Alternate Governor, originally acquired a minority stake in the Hornets in 2019. He has been an alternate governor on the NBA Board of Governors since 2019. Plotkin is the founder and chief investment officer of Tallwoods Capital LLC.

In addition to Plotkin and Schnall, the new ownership group also includes Chris Shumway, Dan Sundheim, Ian Loring, Andrew Schwartzberg, Dyal HomeCourt Partners, North Carolina natives recording artist J. Cole and country music singer-songwriter Eric Church, and several local Charlotte investors, including Amy Levine Dawson and Damian Mills, among others.

Jordan will retain a minority ownership share of the team and will also serve as alternate governor.

Wow, I forgot about the Dust Chip fiasco. I did not forget about all of the draft fiasco's though. And I didn't realize Clifford was pushing for Booker. Hopefully he pushed for Miller over Scoot and that's why we have him now.
