And Alex Len was dropping dimes to the opposing team.

Man, two plays with Scottie defending gave me PTSD from last year.

The first at 0:16 where a simple head fake gives his guy good position for a short jumper.

The second at 10:12 where Scottie goes over a screen while reaching for a hand-off, allowing his guy to easily get into the lane.

It's frustrating because he has all the physical tools to be an excellent defender, and seems to have good awareness (especially offensively), but he just has these lapses in focus and too-often becomes the weak-point in the defense.

Hopefully stuff like this goes away with maturity.

Brother what

Lebron is one of the best passing players of all time, there's levels to this.

No point to even respond to such a ridiculous statement. It’s like talking to your 9 year old Nephew or Little cousin at a Family BBQ.

At the same age LeBron had better shooters surrounding him and a higher usage rate. Nephew and Little shouldn't be capitalized but go ahead and call me a child.

Lebron had higher usage because hes Lebron. Scottie isnt on the same planet as a passer and never will be.

Nothing in that scrimmage video gave me any reason for optimism.

Barnes still making the same mistakes defensively. He was not dominating that scrimmage or showing he was a level above what are mostly scrubs out there.

Not sure Barnes will ever become the star we all hoped he would become after his rookie year. This is his make or break year. While progress is not linear, two straight years of stagnation after a strong rookie year would not project to a star player.
Game, blouses.

These clips of him playing inferior competition tell us nothing. How's the jumpshot doing? How's the handle looking?
the full highlights show him bricking numerous jumpshots... Like almost every jump was bricked

Not sure what you guys expected in a couple months. We can all agree that he was misused in Nurse’s system and we’ll have to see the improvement in actual games. Random pickup games are useless. We went through this already with the Rico runs, where Scottie looked like prime Giannis.

I see. Yeah it's not great, It's one thing to not hit shots, but his fundamentals on offense and defense need so much work. He has so many bad habits to unlearn. It's concerning that he's still making the same mistakes. The toughest to digest are the defensive miscues and the way he stops trying once the opponent has a bit of an advantage. There are some serious red flags in terms of his mentality/approach.

This video is different. It's full court team runs.

Not sure what you are responding to my observations were simply that he was bricking shots. Thats it... Its a fact. Im not extrapolating anything from that.

also some onus is on Scottie himself for his dissapointing sophomore year. You cant blame everything on how he was used that's ridiculous

To his credit, Barnes has been pretty forthright about all the areas in which he needs to improve. And he's been working on his game all summer thus far. Not much more we can ask than that.

Scottie is playing to competition level.

Why show anything at this point? The only people it would benefit are the guys that going to defend him during the season.

Scottie does a flat hook/flat finger roll with no roll vs Bagley, its so low % and going to roll off a lot. Get that outta your game.

It's always fascinating how easily he muscles his way to the rim with mediocre handles. The Raptors need to create better spacing in their offense to allow him to do this more. He can get there in three steps.

The jumper still looks slow and gross. I'm going to try to erase that video from my mind.
