If you just realize that the biggest reason we've fallen short these past couple seasons has been because our best players (Jrue/Khris/Giannis) have played poorly either due to injury/unavailability or poor shot efficiency, then you'll stop getting so hung up on the "point guard" label. We had this discussion in years past and this idea that like, bringing in some dude like Monte Morris or TJ McConnell (whom I like as players BTW) as some magic cure to the half court offense is absolutely crazy to me.

Has to be a guy who has more elite skills than just "can dribble and run a basic pick & roll" to make me believe that having them in any possible playoff lineups is additive, or warrants taking a single shot or offensive possession away from our Big-3 in crunch time. Otherwise what's the point? Totally get it from a regular season perspective not having a more veteran backup at the position (Jevon was great RS depth to have), but from a playoff perspective it's an absolutely meaningless label. Hell, Bruce Brown was Denver's de facto backup PG last playoffs. This is where a guy like Norm Powell or Luke Kennard helps you so much more because that's the one position we've barely gotten any quality postseason offensive production out of throughout the entire Bud era (Wes, Donte, Grayson).

For those pining for Christian Wood, he's still out there.

The Lakers pod guys (who are really good) spent the past couple shows on whether or not the Lakers should bring Wood in on a minimum deal. Reportedly some Laker players are vetoing the idea. Wood is obviously toxic, despite his talents.

Honestly would've made me nervous and suspicious if Thanasis went elsewhere. Glad he's back.

Sounds like he chose to return over other options like the Knicks too. Bodes well for us IMO

Shams says Thanasis turned down the Knicks to come back to us

It is what it is. I fully understand why they keep him around I just wish he were a regular bad NBA player instead of possibly the actual worst player in the league and a legitimate threat to either injure someone or start a fight everytime he plays.

Giannis is the PG. Jrue and Dragic handle bringing the ball up when he doesn't. They have at least three SGs in Pat, Allen, and Beasley who are going to play 25+ minutes a night.
Giannis is a terrible PG.

Yep absolutely and the sooner AG can rid giannis of that mindset the better.Guys relax there will be a trade and we will have a BU PG no way we go into the season with 3 SGs.
As for jae a whole off season to get in shape he will be back to 15-20 mins a game i think.

Gotta do what you gotta do. Giannis says pay his brother, you pay him.

Obviously we have plenty of time before the trade deadline to do something, but coming out of this offseason without a legit 4th creator off the dribble doesn’t inspire much confidence imo.

And put me firmly in the “I fully get why they brought Thanasis back but it’s still annoying they have to use a roster spot on him when they literally don’t have a backup PG” camp.

He is an amazing passer. Terrible decision maker with 20 seconds on the shot clock though.

This better be quid pro quo for Giannis extending next summer. Otherwise, complete waste of a roster spot on arguably the worst player in the league who is going to probably cause a fight and injure someone.

Which is why the offense would be much better if it didn’t have to start with Giannis with the ball at the top of the key.

Initiate it any other way. Even running something to eventually get him the ball coming downhill from above the arc is fine, but just him dribbling to the top of the key and deciding what to do only works super efficiently against teams that can’t wall him off. It never works against elite D that can eliminate you from the playoffs (Heat, Celtics, Raptors).
