Yep, it backfired. The only way we probably see the trade happening is by the trade deadline when these fancy talks cool off.

Looks like we're gonna have the Youngins plus Jrich, and Bryant to start the season.

Herro will play his butt off and gonna have a chip on his shoulder.

I think the time is now to either put all the chips in for dame or come out and pull the offer

What does this mean for Portland?

This likely emboldens the Blazers’ stance that they will search for the best deal for the franchise, and won’t be pigeonholed by a one-team trade demand. While Blazers general manager Joe Cronin has immense respect and affinity for Lillard, and while he also has a track record of trying to work with players to find favorable landing spots (CJ McCollum, Josh Hart), he has made clear he won’t lose leverage and get fleeced in a deal because of Lillard’s ultimatum.

If Cronin had his wish, he would like to keep Lillard in Portland, but if that ship has sailed, he has said his next priority is doing right by the Blazers. This memo essentially shows the league backs Portland’s stance that there should be open bidding for the star’s rights, while also warning other players and agents that this tactic won’t be tolerated.

Let’s see those other offers, Portland. Until that happens Miami is the only option. Reality sucks. No one wants to pay a disgruntled star 60 mil past 35, sorry

Now it’s on Portland to either get another offer (doubt), try to repair the relationship with dame (good luck) or trade him to us

So a couple of notes on my end. This could have come from a FO not even capable of being part of a trade for Lillard. Like Dallas or Boston, or Milwaukee. A contender whos pissed they could find themselves outside the title odds.

Additionally it may have been Portland themselves bitching at Adam silver that the reason thwy arent getting offers is because of Lillards sopposed threats. They arw super pissed Miami has zero incentive to up their offers at all and will be forced to go sell at 30 cents on the dollar. This was their last ditch effort to maybe get another team to force Miami to up their offer.

If the trade happens shortly they can now play this off as hey other teams finally made some offers once NBA clarified Lillards stance and Miami went all in finally.

This will show us how badly Our FO wants Lillard. Knowing Riley chances are he will fight fire with fire and hold his ground and keep the offer the same.

Let's play this out logically. Say Pat holds his ground, that means Dame is going to get destroyed. That means Dame will add more teams and end the saga, but now you have pissed off Mr Loyalty who does have screen shots. All Dame has to do is fire his agent, the agent will fall on the sword and then cooperate (vengefully) or leak things and we will be hit hard with tampering. It does feel like a no win situation, damed if you do damed if you dont. Honestly it's in our best interest to just throw the bank, the blank check and let Portland get what they want so we get Dame vs getting hit with a punitive tampering fine.

There isn't anything logical about anything that you post. This is beyond fan fiction.

I think people will be surprised with how underwhelming the trade packages for Lillard will really be. There aren't all that many teams out there who will give up a good amount and still expect to be a strong contender for a championship in the next couple of years. Let's say Philly goes all in, sends Maxie, Harris and a couple of picks, if they don't win in a year they're screwed unless they overpay to keep Harden and then... they're future for the next half decade is screwed as Harden and Lillard decline on huge contracts and Philly will only be able to trade Embiid to try to retool/rebuild. Who knows, maybe they can part Harden out this year to get better fits around Embiid and Lillard but I don't think Miami, Boston or Milwaukee would be underdogs to them in the playoffs, the risk is just too great to offer much for Lillard.

Who’s going to offer more than Miami for Lillard that makes sense?

Not only will the affect the Heat and Blazers negatively if it doesn’t happen, it’ll destroy the NBA2K franchise. I’ve told myself if we get Dame I’ll buy that poverty ass game for the 1st time in years

At this point, I doubt anyone does. I think Portland is dragging this out to hope either another team makes an offer or dame changes his mind. But if neither happens before training camp they might have to just trade him to us. That’s my feeling

Why do you think the NBA only put out a memo about Lillard and not Harden? It's because some owners had an issue with Miami getting Lillard and no real issue with Harden trying to force his way to a particular team.

I would not be one bit surprised if Morey with the 76ers was one of the loudest bitching about the Lillard only wanting to go to Miami because it would them some type of chance of getting Lillard for some type of Harden package. You gotta admit, teams are going to be way more worried about Miami getting Lillard than the Clippers getting Harden.

I think what really got the NBA riled up was the insinuation or perceived insinuation that Dame wouldn't give full effort if he ended up anywhere but Miami.

The good ol boys seem intent on making sure Dame and his agent know their place. Not sure why there were crickets when Snake Paul told the league that AD would only sign an extension in LA but whatever.

If you pay for the $150 version of NBA 2k24 you also get League Pass for a year.

"Will only sign an extension in LA" is also very different from "will refuse to play anywhere other than LA while under contract".

Based on our current outlook you might be buying NBA2K28 before we sniff a Lillard trade here. By then well get him for a Lowry type contract when he is on his last legs.

Dame for Ayton makes way more sense than Dame for Herro if the Blazers don't value the Heats picks/young players.

Don’t want him either.

Right but Goodwin didn't say Lillard wouldn't play for another team the memo said he was indicating which is not a fact, it's an opinion so there is some wiggle room there and I would expect the agent knew how close of the line he could get without getting in trouble.

Goodwin also made public comments indicating that Lillard would not fully perform the services called for under his player contract if traded to another team.
