How long would you extend the buffalo for? after this year he'll be 30 and I think he has one more year after that already?

Extend Derrick! I'd hate to see him go to some random desperate team. I want to see him thrive on the Cs. Big year coming up at PG. He already had a season at the position and going from bench to starter filling in for an injured Murray so this is a familiar scenario for him which will be beneficial.

Fact of the Day: Last season, Marcus Smart had an assist % of 25.6% in 61 regular season games, per nba.com. That's his career high. Before the Celtics traded for him, Derrick White's assist % for the Spurs in 2021-22 was 25.6% (in 49 games).

And in the 480 minutes White was classified as PG this past season; his assist % was 26.8. This was in lineups without smart or brogdon.

And more detailed during the 49 games he played with the spurs before being traded, he played 371 minutes as the sole pg; he had an assist % of 35.6

This was in lineups without DJM

It's the offseason, middle of the summer. Yet Cassell takes it upon himself to fly out to Colorado and work with D-White and his trainer and the whole time he's there he's all business, no small talk like it's the middle of the playoffs.

Love it. That really shows that Sam is coming in and looking to make an impact on this team right away. He really wants to help get us over the hump and win this ring.

Sam wants that head coaching gig and the team winning the title would almost guarantee him front of the line status next off season. He’s got another member of the coaching staff looking to get there too in Lee so maybe this helps to separate Sam. I’m good with any of them using us winning a title to advance themselves because hey it means we won a title.

Of course, there’s always a chance he needs to separate himself so he can take over for Bubblegum Town.

So here we are. It's September. White has a three week window coming in where he can sign an extension for 3 more years at about $30 million per. Do the Celtics do it?
