A sport related with bobsleigh (bobsleigh are used on iced tracks, toboggans on snowy tracks). Originally from Canada, spread to USA in the late 19th century where it became hugely popular before WW2 (was then later all but forgotten in USA, as downhill skiing took its place and role). After WW2 American soldiers stationed in Bavaria and Austria brought the sports to Europe, and for some lord knows why reason it became popular with german-speaking people in the Alps region.

A lot of non-football sports get super popular for a while when Germans are good (like tennis - during Becker/Graf era, Formula 1, ski jumping, cycling during Jan Ullrich/Telekom era,...), but not basketball. As I recall it it was even more popular after MJ's first comeback than in the Dirk era. I played table tennis for almost two decades and where I'm from even that is way more popular than basketball.

and you know what is even more crazy? that even without kleber and hartenstein, we are still able to bring two NBA players at the frontcourt with Mo Wagner and Daniel Theis.
Feel like i read somewhere that Hartenstein was an absolutely unbearable piece of work to be in a team with.
Do i remember right? What's the deal there?
