As Xatticus expounded above, corporate donation loopholes big enough to drive a battleship through are one of the truly despicable problems with our (USA) system.

...wait, Xatticus?

Do you applaud that mass donations to Democrats from the NBA and their constant pushing of organizations' that if donated to your money goes to nothing but getting Democrats elected?

No one ever seems to have an issue with the above. Flip it around and people like you are ready to jump off a cliff.

Of course not. “How stupid and awful Devos and The Magic supports said republican nominee but all is well in supporting BLM organization which its manager was charged with human trafficking and prostitution.” Because you know, they really care about the African American community. Lol such bs.

Also every dollar donated to BLM either went to ACT BLUE (sole purpose is to elect Democrats around the nation) or to mansions for the people in charge of BLM.

The NBA and some people in here have ZERO issues with promoting and giving endless amounts of money to that.

Again, the fact that this donation "deserves" its own thread or even comes out in the news is the REAL story here with how incapable half the country has become in being tolerant towards someone that disagrees with them.

I think it's more of an issue with DeSantis. If they donated to Rick Scott or Rubio, we wouldn't have heard anything.

If by "issue" you mean the left is determined to attack DeSantis and Trump endlessly with false propaganda filled claims then you are right, DeSantis is the issue.

Trump allegedly conspired to throw out legally casted ballots.

Desantis has backed some current legislation that people view as racist and homophobic.

I do think the left fear that possibly a criminal or racist could be president.

Well I guess that settles that. Based on your narrative, Republicans are evil. Better vote for the terrible policies of the left that improve nothing for no one because CNN told you what to think. Also completely ignore every scandal that comes from the left because that is all 100% Russian Disinformation. #AmericaIn2023

The only thing the left fears is losing power and having people like you wake up.

BS. They fear the corruption they will expose that they have done by using cultural differences for their own agenda and gain. Among other stuff.

Take a look at the timeline of this whole thing. I’m no means a Trump guy but holy ****, we got a president’s son (as well as the President and the entire administration) who should be put under the jail let alone charged rn and not a single peep from these organizations who have supported them or institutions they are heavily invested in for decades.

I'll have to look at the indictments. I haven't read up on the ones for the Biden administration. I did hear that Biden's son was charged.

I believe the left feels like a portion of the right has slipped off into fascism. If it were a conservative Republican it wouldn't be a big deal.

I did a quick "guestimate" based on our players college, parents, and state they were born in to "assume" what I think they're politics "may" lean towards based on those factors and how the donation may affect how they feel. Here's what I came up with:

1. Paolo: Italians (Dad) are conservative, mother is from the NW. Guess- He doesn't love it, doesn't hate it

2. Franz: Germans are socially Liberally, but conservative in the way they think naturally. Guess- He doesn't Care as much as a US born player would

3. Wendell: Born in Atlanta. Played College in NC. Dad played overseas. Guess- Wendell no likely

4. Cole: His dad Greg is a heavy republican. Loves his dad. Guess- Doesn't mind the donation

5. Suggs: Deep rooted Christian. Attends church with JI on occasion. Guess: Doesn't mind the donation

6. Markelle: grew up in Catholic school, played college in the NW. Supporter of BLM. Loves the Magic though for giving him a second chance at a career. Guess: Hates it but won't express it

7. Gary: Heavy roots in SE Michigan. Mom played for WNBA in MI. He played for MI state. Devos are from MI. Guess- Doesn't like it, doesn't hate it.

8. Issac: Loves it. That was easy

9. Mo Wagner: Refer to Franz. Same Guess

10. Black: Probably has no clue. Too young. Guess: will believe whatever he reads

11. Jett: Dad Juwan is a Republican. He loves his father. Guess: He doesn't mind the donation

12. Ingles: A republican. Guess: He likes it.

If you narrow it down, my hypothesis is that out of the 12 magic players listed (sans Shofield and Okeke), my guess is :

2 players Don't like it
4 players Are Meh on it..
5 players will secretly be OK with it
1 player will go with whatever they're told.

That was fun. Just killing time. Nothing here was fact :)

Yes the left feels like a portion of the right has slipped off into fascism as the left and their supporters continue to act more and more like fascists every single day.

The problem with your commentary on this subject, is it isn't rooted in truth and isn't remotely factually accurate. Rather you seem to just be spewing propaganda talking points that also requires you to keep your eyes and ears closed to what is actually happening.

Seems like poor decision to use Magic name. Also, Disney being a big sponsor it also seems like bad business.

But, at the end of the day seems to be pretty minor.

Political parties and politicians always fear losing power. That’s why checks and balances are important. Power steadily changes your perceptions and usually it’s not for the best of the common citizen.

Just stop. You clearly have no idea.

Use whatever definition you want, but there is only one side that controls mass media, censors people they disagree with, attempts to jail their political rivals, and has mobs that threaten violence if they don't get their way. That is what Fascism looks like.

my further problem, on both sides. term limits for president and most governors. even mayors.

House and Senate....not limits. politician was never originally meant to be a lifetime job. and i believe its the Senate, has more politicians over 67 than under 67. they dont want to let go of power.

you mean like denying press access? or taking choices away from people? making it harder for people to vote? throwing out voting results if you dont like/agree with them?

seeing the majority of that from 1 side.

First of all, don't say "people like you" because you don't know Jack S**t about me. Secondly, as you can see from the media and NBAPA response- it was a stupid business decision...I'm talking about stirring up things when there's no need to do so. The Devos family probably have dozens of corps (largely based on shell games, but I digress) to run their "contributions" through. Why run such a relatively small amount ($50k) through an organization dependent on a largely liberal African-American population and, generally speaking, progressive stance on things? Winning in the NBA relies, in part, in being able to recruit talent, endear yourself to agents, etc...It's just bad business to make unnecessary, highly visible, potentially divisive moves that could affect your GM's ability to build a better team.

I wouldn't endorse similar contributions in the other direction either - why be potentially divisive? Donate to kids, local initiatives, etc. Politics today is way too explosive...as you can see by the two ass clowns who immediately labeled me after my post.

FYI, I'm a registered Republican, by the way, I just don't support liars, racists, Medicare frauds, Insurance industry lackeys, or pathological hypocrites. I don't think slavery was trade school, I can't recall any positive figures in history that banned books, and I don't think drag shows are a higher priority than, well, just about any of the other hundred things that need work. I'm an old, straight, white male who owns a successful business...I'm just trying not to be a jerk.
