Draymond , Gobert , Giannis , Davis clearly the 4 best.

After that I’d say Leonard, but hard not to see the likes of Mobley/Bam/Jackson Jr (perhaps even Wemby and Chet) surpassing in a sense of defensive career value.

i would prefer Butler/George over most of them (everybody aside from pre 2017 Kawhi). I’d say Simmons and Anunoby are at the worst HMs if not in the T-5 themselves. Payton II is another good shout at the guard position.

Payton II is a big reach imo, the man has one season over 500 minutes.

Roberson would be a strong contender for non-big.

Agreeing on the clear top 4 bigs - Dray, Rudy, AD, Giannis. Likely one of the younger bigs joining them there (Bam, Mobley, JJJ), but just not quite enough time to feel sure. Embiid is closer than some might give him credit for.

How did those two in Roberson and Embiid slip my mind. They’d round out 5:6 for now , along with Kawhi. Was thinking more on a per possession basis for GP2, but in aggregate would take Holiday (not a 10s pick), Caruso, and Smart certainly.

I was thinking PJ Tucker might deserve some love, but I forgot he was drafted all the way back in '06 before spending half a decade out of the league.

Very nice, the combined list for anyone who doesn't have an hour and a half (bit longer time period than our question):

T-7. Tim Duncan
T-7. Jaren Jackson Jr
T-5. Giannis Antetokounmpo
T-5. Rudy Gobert
4. Dwight Howard
3. Anthony Davis
2. Draymond Green
1. Kevin Garnett

I think Duncan is heavily underrated on this list. I also would consider Gasol for that top 8.

I should’ve noted it was for ‘08 onwards, somewhat explaining the Duncan placement.

Gasol, Noah, and Hibbert were the HMs I believe.

Yeah, that is right. I still think 2008 Duncan should be higher on that list though.

1. Draymond
2. Gobert
3. Kawhi
4. Davis
5. Bam

Gobert has less playoff upside than Kawhi and Davis on defense to me but he was more consistent being DPOY level every year, and he never got to play with the defensive supporting casts Kawhi and Davis did at their best.

I think Bam deserves credit with Heat finals runs having a lot to do with his D and I like but don't love Giannis on that end.
