Russia is making gains again in some areas. Why would they agree to anything diplomatic? There is absolutely no way that NATO gets out of this war just for Putin to continue assaulting Kyiv. That would be catastrophic and a huge loss. It is absolutely critical to the entire Western world that Ukraine wins. Otherwise, Russia will do this again. Then, China will gain confidence with Taiwan. Africa would turn into an even worse melee than its been... essentially a second colonialization era, except with Russia repeating what France, Spain and England did centuries ago.
A lot of the people that you call "bored", are stupid. They have no idea what the consequences are or how it affects the country. NATO must restrain Russia. It is not optional.
There is no NATO. There's the United States, who foots the bill for everything, and that is about it.
Ukraine is irrelevant to the world at large. If they are so dependent on American taxpayers for their existence, they aren't a real nation in the first place.
This is pure nonsense. UK, France, Poland, Turkey, Italy to name a few are not to be played with. Especially Poland who has been investing big time in their military. If Putin's mercenaries f*ck around, they will find out quickly I assure you.
No one of sound mind wants real smoke with NATO. I'm not sure who you're listening to in order to form this opinion, but they're wrong.
Ukraine is the 5th largest exporter of wheat in the world. They are not irrelevant. My family's home country got hit hard by trade disruptions thanks to Putin's bullsh*t.
I appreciate you engaging with whycee but I think you’re ignoring the crux of his argument - if you can’t defend yourself against a much bigger bully, you don’t deserve to exist.
Obviously, he’s a Putin fan but I think it’s really problematic that he can resort to that point of a country shouldn’t exist if they can’t defend themselves. This doesn’t work for several reasons.
Number 1, his argument is depressingly close to Putin’s assertions that Ukraine is a false entity that doesn’t deserve to exist and that’s why his war is justified. I think that in itself should raise up red flags…like maybe I shouldn’t parrot talking points from a weak Russian dictator? I’d start questioning myself if I started quoting a Xi Jinping or Kim Jung Un for example.
Number 2, it ignores the fact that Ukraine actually fought valiantly when Russia invaded, against all expectations. They really did earn this. If anything, Russia is the laughingstock right now, and exposed. Weren’t they supposed to have the world’s second or third best military?
Number 3, it ignores the fact that Russia has already been at war against America, evidenced by their efforts to promote Trump. Yea, this is non-negotiable. Everything Russia has done in Eastern Europe to destabilize democracies, they’ve tried to do here. It’s just that Trump is a lot dumber than someone like Orban and maybe US institutions are stronger.
Number 4, this argument doesn’t hold up historically or morally. Was Neville Chamberlain right to appease Hitler then…when he gave up seemingly irrelevant countries and a group of people who were easy to blame for all the problems of society? Was slavery okay, given that the slaves couldn’t fight off their oppressor? Maybe it was okay for the Western powers to carve out spheres of influence? Looks to me that the native Americans deserved to get scammed and tricked in all their treaties.
Again, it’s super clear to me that whycee is a Putin fan so not surprised. But as an American, I think Putin losing keeps America safer.
