Hey looked pretty decent last night. One fast break he had 2 trailers open and forced/missed his own layup, but beyond that he moved the ball well and seemed to at least look like he knew what to do.

He has decent size and length and looks like a DWhite type of ball mover. More intersting prospect than a lot of guys we have taken flyers on.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I've seen very little of him, but he looks to have limited athleticism and speed. Both are big issues for a wing player like him.

But I'd take the paycut and play for $50k if Justin C. finds a better opportunity elsewhere

So like I said a few weeks ago, Stevens went for some wing on the Fitts/Staukas special for the 15th spot. Next season, with Champagnie, Gallo, Pritchard, Kornet and Muscala (and not even including a sing and trade for Grant) the Celtics can cobble more than 18 million in salary without touching their core to add another piece. If the ownership is willing to pay the extra tax, they could get a guy making 23 millions back. There are some nice consolidation options in that salary range.
I liked most of what I saw last night. He hustled and moved the ball (apart from that horrible fast break as djFan71 said). He did seem to lack a little touch around the basket but that might have been nerves from his first game in a new environment. I wouldn't be heartbroken if they bring him back into camp next season.

Not discounting the possibility of a biggish trade for a guy in that salary range, but the more I think about it, the more I feel there's less need for it. As it stands, I think high-salaried guys like White and Brogdon are already under-utilized. Adding another one into the mix unnecessarily mucks up roles and usage further. At some point, Cs got to bank on the constant improvement of the Jays (if JB is willing to stay) and surround them with the right vets.
If they do target someone in that salary range, I hope it's for a potential Horford replacement and/or Grant upgrade.
And I think the new CBA would now disallow trades that bring in more salary if team is above the second tax apron so that Brogdon-type trade Brad did in the summer would no longer be possible.

Waive and stretch that $50k for the next decade baby:)
Can’t remember seeing such a (relatively) small number in the NBA contract world (I know it’s just a parting gift if they cut him after today)

I think, that it's so he can go onto the Maine Celtics, as a Waived Affiliate?
If so, then it could be Bumped up to $75K. That's the new rate this year.

Decent Dude. Did alright on the Summer League.
I think that he ends up as an Affiliate, as noted previously.

Maybe.
I could see 3 possible scenarios for him..
a) sign on and just be a Maine Celtics g league player for us (probably the least likely scenario, though imo. Guys who take this type of deal are usually pretty bad - it's a last resort in case they aren't able to get any other type of contract)
b) sign with a different NBA team, either on a standard contract, 2-way or exhibit 10
c) Sign with a team overseas, where he can make much more than $ than he would on just a g-league contract - he could probably make more $ than he would on a 2-way. And he'd get much more playing time than he would as a 15th man for some NBA team.
There's been a few other guys who have followed this path in recent years - where they went undrafted (or maybe got drafted) and were unable to stick with an NBA team, instead go and sign with overseas team. Some recent examples are Jordan Usher, Moses Wright, Brady Manek, Jean Montero, Kyle Guy, DeVante Jones, etc.
Other guys who stayed in the NBA a little bit longer before heading overseas are Yabusele, Carsen Edwards, Tremont Waters, Tacko Fall, Poirier, etc.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

I like the move we didn't really need him having scrubb on the two way I find them sorta similar and we get a shot at adding better player at vet minimum deal.

Nice kid, just not quite good enough. As I said earlier, I would have paid him the 50K and then waived him. Players and agents remember that sort of thing. If they are willing to pay Brown a quarter of a billion before luxury tax, what's $50K more?

I agree with you 100%. My guess is the team figures it'll be dancing too close to the second apron for a while, and these $50K could be the difference between being on the right or the wrong side of the line.
