2023-24 Season Discussion and Speculation 3 - Post Free Agency Discussion
Is anyone concerned that maybe Ayton does not want to be in Phoenix anymore? We’ve been talking about what the Suns should do but not much discussion on what Ayton wants.
Media day will be interesting again. Last year, he was very short with the media but time went on and started acting like himself. This year, Mikal and Payne ain’t there to make him feel like himself again.
Serious question, but does he have any close friends on the team? I really hope his mind is right because he’s the key to everything imo.

If we're still having to worry about Ayton's mental state on a nightly basis when he's getting paid $30m as a 4th option, then he won't last past December in Phoenix.
Zero excuses now for Ayton, 3 guys clearly ahead of him on the offensive pecking order and a new coach brought in who is known for his team's defensive focus and prowess.
Defend, rebound, hustle, assert yourself physically. That's all we want from Ayton and it's more clear than ever now. Now it's up to him

Does any other player need so much cuddling? Most players would be very happy to be in his position. Getting paid max money while playing for a contender. With this guy, you never really know though, there's always some excuse.

Right! I was bored last night on Instagram and noticed that Ayton has not liked any of the Suns recent IG posts. Some of the posts were about him, too. He also has not liked any of Booker’s recent posts.
I go to Pumas and Buddy Hields IG accounts and you see a good amount of DA likes there. Some may think that’s nothing, I don’t.
I’m still in the camp that he needs to be traded. If not, Vogel, Book, Beal, and KD will have to coddle this guy. It’s super annoying.

Not really. By all accounts he is a good teammate. I bet he gets on with all the new guys fairly quickly. How many people we signed have other friends on the team outside of maybe 1. Okogie and Bates Diop know each other but were drafted by the same team competing against each other. KD and Yuta.

He's never needed cuddling. This is all fans making stuff up.

I think he ignores social media for the most part, which is the smart thing for him to do. I agree they should trade him if there was a good trade out there but I wouldn't just trade him for anything.

I think you’re wrong on this one. Unless we’re talking about a different player, it’s pretty obvious following the Suns through his career that he definitely needs some coddling.

This is all fan assumption. People make dissect and make up stuff about Ayton, like not being happy with the Suns and some other stuff like this when there is no evidence of that. When did he need coddling?

Yeah, I think most players definitely ignore social media. I would if I’m them too. But he’s definitely on social media liking selective posts (posts that don’t have anything to do with the Suns) and that’s concerning at least to me. I can see why some old heads might not see it a concern.
I don’t mean this as any disrespect because I’m older too but like’d to feel I’m somewhat in the loop to what the cool kids are doing nowadays. lol

I know Instagram is the thing, and even TikTok, but I think he ignores that stuff as much as possible. I think dissecting whether or not someone is liking posts is a little ridiculous. And even the posts the Suns make with him in it, they immediately devolve into people insulting him.
Now if he like unfollows the Suns or something, that would be different and I think meaningful.

Unfollowing is the nuclear button. It's pretty obvious Ayton's ego absolutely needs to be stroked.bwgood77 wrote:Jdiddy701 wrote:bwgood77 wrote:

Shockingly I enter this thread and see misinformation presented as fact. Even more shocking that I see SunsBum and Jdoofus701 prominently involved in such conversations. You guys still are using Facebook to get your info about what the "kids" are hip to apparently lol.
People use snapchat nowadays. That, and Twitch. You boomers are behind again. Stick to Matlock reruns. Now, go back to hating on Ayton for existing.

I'm honestly not worried at all because I believe we have an owner that would 100% support benching Ayton if he is a problem. He'd let Vogel start one of the four other centers on the roster (Eubanks, Metu, Bol, and Azuibuke) before he would let one player damage the team's chance a chip.

Ishbia is absolutely making all the right moves you expect from an owner who seems to respect traditions and the history of the Phoenix Suns. Amare was my second favourite player during that era of the Suns and thought he did enough to making the ROH. I thought Trix was a no-brainer given how good he was as a player and having played a decade for the Suns.
Great great moves all around

I'm all for entering both in the Suns ring of honor but whatever happened with Amare after he was arrested for punching his daughter?
I really hope it's not true but if it is I don't think he should be inducted.

Aren't some of us forgetting that Ayton most definitely has a SM team that handles his ish. Wouldn't be shocked if the likes and non interactions were calculated by something of the sort.

Respectfully this take lacks all objectivity.
We know for a FACT he follows SM closely. He basically admitted it in his whole "Whaaaa everyone hates me right now" interview he gave to a random bum in the Bahamas.
As JDiddy stated DA is also out there liking Pacer posts, but NONE of the Suns or his own teammates.
The DA experience is almost over.

DA still fancies himself as the former #1 overall pick who was supposed to ressurect the franchise. Someone needs to tap him on the shoulder already .....

I didn't see that whole interview or the context of that one tiny comment they pulled out of it without even knowing the context, hearing the queston or seeing the entire interview, which is often very misleading. Can you post the entire interview?

Since we're back to bashing Ayton again here's a clip of him doing offseason practice.
3 point shot looks good and he's upped his 3pt accuracy each year in the league so it would be nice to see him shoot more 3's which would really expand his game.
