Tony Parker and Pau Gasol in the HOF

Anyone else surprised that Parker got it? I just never saw him as that caliber of player. Even Pau was a bit iffy though his international play made him much closer to a sure thing.

Not surprised. As a general rule it seems like basketball HOF voters like giving the nod to trios. If memory serves, there are no cores that won multiple titles that don't have at least 3 prime players in the Hall.

For this reason I see Klay Thompson as a lock even though I don't think he should be seen as even Parker's equal.

And then of course there's the matter that Parker is an international spearhead. That was always going to help Parker if he got close, and he definitely got close.

I think they've been moving away from that a bit - 1st 3peat Bulls only have MJ/Pippen, Shaq/Kobe, Kobe/Pau, Hakeem/Drexler. Though Bosh did get in, so who knows.

I will say, I think Horace Grant should be in there.

I get that but I feel like he gets left out for similar reasons to Grant which is lack of all star/all nba accolades.

Gasol is in because of the two nba titles and international play. But people do forget that he didn’t win a playoff game before he went to LA with Kobe. Not just a series, but a game. He’s a hall of famer, but I would have waited until next year when his international accolades were also eligible. Chris Bosh had to wait two years and Pau should have too. TP it’s hard to argue with 4 nba titles and a Finals mvp. But how many years was he a even a top 5 pg, did he just luck up playing with Duncan, Manu, and being coached by Pop? Wade and Dirk can’t even be argued against, but I have no problem in questioning Gasol and Parker as 1st ballot guys!

Gasol definitely deserves induction on the basis of his NBA career, even setting aside international play. Parker is a head-scratcher, though.

I dont think anyone forgets that. Pretty well known that he did not win in memphis.

They still take into account Pau's international play even if he is an NBA alumni. He deserves to be first ballot. Bosh, who was a comparable player didn't accomplish as much.

Even if we are going off of their playoff success as the number one guy, the raptors were not as successful as the grizzlies. But of course, Pau's main separation is definitely from international player which he is an all timer in terms of accomplishments. Also, his career was longer than Chris'.

I have Gasol 46th and Parker 61st right now on my all-time list, and that's only for the NBA, so they're both no-brainers if you ask me.

Tony Parker is one of the most disrespected stars this century. He did so much for that Spurs team. Of course he deserves to be in the hall.
