He looks like he brings a cross between JD and Scrubb, his shooting better than Davison, and his court vision better than Scrubb. Defense I'm not sure, he's smaller than the other guys but looks OK. I've been watching some videos, seems he might make the leap to NBA third string and get some reg season minutes.

I agree. Steward is intriguing. Was very good in G league last year, was very good in summer league this year. Still only 21 yrs old so has some upside. Is unproven at the NBA level, but that's why he's a 2-way guy - or possibly a 15th man. He's a young guy you take a flier on.

He is a bit undersized at 6'2" (measured 6'1.75" at the combine and they round up if you're a half inch over). But he looks bigger on film, looks more like 6'4", or 6'3" at the least. And no, it's not wild to see a video and think a guy is an inch or 2 different than his listed height ;)

People keep reporting that Steward is gonna compete for the last 2-way slot. But I'm not sure I buy that. I don't really think it makes sense to have a 6'3" PG (JD), a 6'2" SG (Steward) and a 6'5" SG (Scrubb) as your three 2-way guys.

Remember, 2-ways are non-guaranteed contracts. A guy on a 2-way can get waived at any time. I think if Steward ends up on a 2-way with us, I think there's a pretty good chance that either JD or Scrubb gets waived. And it could very well be JD. Scrubb and Steward were better at summer league this year than JD. JD's numbers across the board were worse in 2023 summer league, compared to 2022 summer league. He was a 30% shooter from 3 in college, 30% last year in G league (so no improvement there) in the limited mins he got for Boston last year, he shot 29% from 3 and this year in summer league he only shot 27% from 3. He doesn't seem to be improving very much.

It could very well be Steward, JD and Scrubb competing for 2 of the 2-way spots. And then we look to sign a frontcourt player to the third 2-way spot.

And there could even be an outside chance that 1 of those guys (but more likely either Steward or Scrubb) wins that 15th roster spot if they impress in camp (and also depending on who we sign to the 14th roster spot..).
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

DJ does look taller than advertised, but maybe it's because he's skinny. He needs to give Tyrese Maxey a call and get on the same diet and weight regiment. They are similar players (Maxey obviously better, and less available). Maxey has more mass and muscle. Steward is long and quick enough, but will get pushed around in the NBA.

As an SG, if Steward was a couple inches taller, he would have been drafted. He was a highly touted prospect and still has a lot of upside.

I consider that Brad is open to having a 6'2" guy this year as long as it's a value. Over the past couple years it looked like Ime and Joe were just not going to play shorter guys, but part of it was the defensive insistence on leaving players on a defensive island. I think we're going to see a different philosophy this year -- the team got eaten up too many times when opposing teams got switches and isolated our weakest perimeter defender on their best one-on-one offensive player. This year, instead of having Grant Williams, we have quicker Banton, Walsh and Brissette to fight through screens, cheat into the passing lanes, and flash double teams. Basically, looks like Brad/Joe may be taking a page out of Spo's book, because that is what Miami did to the Jays. The Celtics did not have the personnel to respond in kind.

They were never getting Tatum. Danny only traded the pick because he knew he could get Tatum at 3.

Brogdon and multiple picks for WCJ/Gary Harris. Let’s go.

Harden is pretty savvy, he aint Simmons. He will eventually show up, out of shape and ruin chemistry in passive aggressive ways to ensure he is paid and not suspended (or voided)

Warren is a decent player. It wouldn't be a terrible pickup if we signed him to be the 14th man.

But I think this guy is going a little overboard with a player who's 29, missed 2 full seasons with injuries, then comes back from injury and only plays in like 41 games, shot about 32% from 3, only shot 24% from 3 over his last 21 games (including playoffs) and isn't particularly good at anything besides scoring.

Not really.

So it couldn't?

Brogdon to the Clips is not happening.

Well, the Clips cost us Smart, so they can only have Brogdon if they massively overpay.

I think he could be had for cheap, and would be fine as a 14th man
