Haven’t been able to get into BG3. Probably because I just don’t have the time to commit, really only in the first island where you crash.

I have been playing a ton of Apex Legends with a friend. Not sure if it’s because I’m getting good, but having a ton of fun with the new season and the wins are racking up. It wasn’t fun when you’d drop and likely die on the first encounter, but now I’m taking out 2-5 people right in hot drops and placing top 5 or so more often than not. It’s also a good game because I can mindlessly pick it up for 20 min at a time.

Unrelated, did anyone preorder Starfield? I’m debating if I should as I kind of want the early access.

Early Access would be nice, but it's not so nice that I can't wait five days for a game I'll get for the price of my Game Pass sub.

My buddy has a BG3 bug where all NPCs will not attack him. At all. He's pretty bummed. All combat has been negated. Probably has to reinstall, but I don't think he wants to begin again and do everything over as he put a ton of time into the game already. Weird bug.

God that’s an old bug that got fixed back in like 2021 or something. He can’t even reload to an earlier save?

Damn, glad I asked. I completely forgot about Game Pass so I will 100% be doing that.

EA'ing a Bethesda game feels like a dicey proposition, anyways.

Mind you, this coming from someone who EA'd a Blizzard game  (different set of historical problems, but problems nonetheless).

I know I shouldn't be this hyped but I just can't help myself. TES/Fallout are in my gaming HoF/Top 5 so I'm ready and willing to let myself down.

I'm banking on Starfield being a huge time suck, but if for some reason it doesn't click, there won't be a lack of games to play this fall.

Today - Everspace 2
8/18 - Madden NFL 24 (kinda looking forward to this...? reviews might sway me to picking it up)
8/22 - Immortals of Aveum (till not sold on this one but it looks pretty.)

8/24 - Blasphemous 2 (absolutely picking it up)
8/25 - Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (day 1)
8/29 - Sea of Stars (looks great, picking it up eventually)
9/6 - Balders Gate 3 (picking it up eventually, probably a winter game)
9/6 - Starfield (goodbye social life)
9/8 - NBA 2K24 (will pick it up eventually)
9/19 - Lies of P (Game Pass game)
9/19 - Mortal Kombat 1 (definitely gonna pick it up, probably just not day one)
9/21 - Payday 3 (Game Pass)
10/3 - Lamplighter's League - (Game Pass, looks fun)
10/10 - Forza Motorsport (Game Pass, looks pretty)
10/12 - Assassin's Creed Mirage (not overly excited, but it's new AC so I'm sure I'll get it at some point)
10/13 - Lords of the Fallen (day one, lock it in)
10/17 - Alan Wake II (probably another game for the dead of winter)
10/20 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (god damn there's too many good games this fall)
10/24 - Cities: Skylines II (Game Pass)
11/2 - Star Ocean: The Second Story (not my thing but I'll keep an eye on it)
11/9 - Double Dragon Collection, Super Double Dragon, Double Dragon Advance (you're out of your mind if you think I'm skipping these)
11/10 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
11/17 - Super Mario RPG (never played the original, so looking forward to checking this out)

Just an absolutely absurd number of great games.

Yeah it really is wild. I plan to put down BG3 for about a week or so to play POE this weekend and check out the new league. Really I just want to go back into Sanctum. I'm so excited it went core.

Beyond that, my list includes...

Day 1:
10/24 - Cities: Skylines II (/year)
11/2 - Star Ocean: The Second Story (may not play it immediately, but want to support it's release)

Absolutely, but not day 1:
10/20 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (zero doubts it will be phenomenal)

Really want it to be amazing/depends on reviews:
8/25 - Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (I have little doubt it will be great, but want to make sure this one clicks for my tastes)
8/29 - Sea of Stars (looks incredible, just want to make sure it lives up to it)
9/6 - Starfield (shrugging emoji)

Maybe someday:
8/24 - Blasphemous 2 (looks great, and I'm curious if I'll like it given how much I loved Salt & Sanctuary)
10/3 - Lamplighter's League (had never heard of this - good looking out DB)
10/10 - Forza Motorsport (always peripherally interested, as a big GT fan, but have never played the mainline series)
10/12 - Assassin's Creed Mirage (interested in that it's a return to the original AC formula)
11/17 - Super Mario RPG (depends on reviews)

Was looking forward to playing Madden next-gen on PC this year for future mods, but it sounds like it's pretty buggy and unstable during early access. Might have to stick with the PS5 version again.

I see there's the 10 hour trial starting today. I'm anxious to give it a go. Because mini-games.

ETA: Checked out the Reddit. Holy hell yea, it looks like a buggy mess.

Even by EA standards Madden 24 is insulting.

I see your lists, I checked them twice. You’re all naughty for not including Super Mario Bros Wonder out 10/20. That’s maybe the only “day one” game for me the rest of the calendar year, barring FFXVI getting a PC port by the holidays (which I highly doubt).

I haven't gotten a new work computer in a while. I've been using an i5 2015 iMac. I've bugged my boss for at least a year about a new machine but I must have caught him on a good day this week. I asked him again he told me to give him options. I gave him one and it was a M2 Pro Mac Mini 19/12 core with 32 GB of ram and one TB of space. Only took 15 minutes to go from him, to purchasing, and have a receipt. Arrives Friday. Psyched.

I thought the gameplay last year was a step in the right direction, everything else was lacking.
I’m playing on the PS5 again this year and having a real good time. Gameplay thus far has gotten even better. I really like the blocking/run game this year and AI coverage feels improved, safeties aren’t just sitting back letting me pick them apart. I’m not a MUT player, superstar has been a fun addition. The mini games have been fun as well, I’m a franchise player and I’m waiting to get into that. I have low expectations for this and ultimately it will push me away from the game if its once again shallow.
The gameplay itself though thus far is the strong part of the game.

I've all but banished Madden and NBA2K from my annual purchase list. Just can't in good conscience keep giving them money when every year they trot out this level of quality and have no incentive to change. I know we're probably never again gonna see an era like the 90's and early-mid 2000's with numerous competing sports IP's, but it just sucks that this is the kind of standard we're forced to accept as die-hard sports fans and gamers.

I had an eight year gap between picking up NBA 2k, grabbing 2k22 for $9.99 on a sale just to see what was up last year before 2k23 dropped. I still regret spending that ten bucks.

I did like 2K last year quite a bit. The ERAS mode was the coolest innovation in sports console gaming in forever. I wish other sports franchises did the same thing.

I haven't played Red Dead Redemption in what must be ten years. But seeing it surface again this week made me pick it up for the Series X. It looks ABSURDLY good in 4K. I'm kinda shocked.

If you do the same, buy it for Xbox and not PS4/5 or Switch. It's $20 cheaper on Xbox and comes with online play.

Haven't talked about how much I love BG3 in a few days, so here I am. Still in a/Act 1. Taking my time with things, picking up everything, trying out different scenarios for the Hell of it. Finally decided to spend gold last night and I'm curious to see how much a +1 or +2 to AC here and there will actually help me (I'm guessing quite a bit).

I try to sleep at camp as little as possible, so toggle through all the available party members until they are all tapped.

Loving what little I've seen of the Underdark. Will push to Act 2 over the weekend.
