At what percent do you put Harden suiting up for us for a game this year?

50%

But the effort he gives is another story.

True dat ... is it just me or does he look stronger? I should hope he is but it will be nice if he can hold his ground better this year.

His shoulders look jacked

Im probably ok for a 2-3 year max deal that ends on 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 season. Where we get control most of our picks after that. The shorter contract the better it is

We then count on Maxey to step up and compensate to whatever decline Harden will have. Get another 6th man scorer that can be our back-up option if Harden starts falling off the rails.

For depth, I’d let Tobi go if needed cal flexibility. Then would make some smart signings with back-up or possibly play double big(cheapest and most abundant talent) then also combo guards (second most abundant talent)

By 2024-2025..

Maxey
Harden/6th man scorer (Lou Will type)
Melton? or Springer (interchangeable with Harden)
Reed
Embiid/cheap talent big (Drummond type)

We then continue this path while continuing developing chemistry until we luck ourselves into a championship window with talents falling into place and our guys playing their best basketball by playoffs.

Cheapest and most abundant talent in the league are bigs and combo guards. We just then need to focus on getting the best talent on these back-up positions where the big can play a big chunk of minutes if Biid goes absent then the 6th man scorer can play a big chunk of minutes if Harden goes absent.

But im not too firm on this and would love to here your thoughts

Sure, let's do everything we can to appease Harden

The problem is... Harden needs to first admit one thing. He let fuccing Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown eat his lunch. All he had to do was get past Boston, forget the what if vs Miami OR the finals, just do ONE THING!!

But no, here we are calculating and speculating supposed backroom deals because he couldn't stop Tatum and Brown from ending his max contract career. I wish Harden the best, but 99% of his beef needs to be with Tatum and Brown period. His play and THEY cost him his max deal. This has nothing to do with Morey, Harden had ONE JOB.

For sure. But looking past faults, which is a beating dead horse discussion, which option would be better?

Harden opted in right?

If he didn't opt in, Sixers would get nothing, at least that was the unanimous understanding of the situation.

Getting nothing is still however on the table, big surprise!!! So to answer your question, which option would be better?

NOTHING

I could care less how this plays out... not only as a fan of this franchise, but the league as a whole.

Again, you let sorry ass Jayson Tatum show you up and now you go from using Houston as leverage to using China. Blow it out your ass and take it up with Tatum, I seriously don't care if it's beating a dead horse or whatever. Harden allowed these clowns to take his money and then... they get embarrassed by going down 3-0 vs Miami, what was the point?

Again, I wish James the best of luck, absolutely zero hard feelings, but letting Brown (most importantly Tatum and his Mothers Day Massacre 50) and these losers put you in this position is all on you James Harden. Opting in and/or backroom wink wink deals... or the league investigating a promised max deal with Morey or whatever, not to mention rumors with Houston last winter and everything else that's making it hard to believe anything. Good luck, I hope he goes to the Clippers for his sake and well being (don't even care about the trade return) because I don't have any beef with Harden, as long as he realizes who is really to blame.

Daryl’s tenure is hard to grade imo because of the hand he was dealt. Granted, he had a core of Embiid/Simmons but much of the draft capital we had was already blown by BC and B/B. Then the freak Simmons thing a year into his tenure.

I think his only objectively bad move(s) have been the PJ/House signings + the tampering that came with it. The Simmons trade and Melton acquisition were great.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

And the Maxey pick was also great.

The Horford trade was good.

Nevertheless, Harden has privately indicated that his public comments calling Morey a "liar" on Monday morning had only been a response to Morey ending trade discussions with an expectation that Harden would start the season with the Sixers, sources said.

I mean what the hell did he expect? It feels kinda like the stalemate that Lillard had. But one key difference. Now that he (or his agent) has indicated he’s willing to go anywhere it’s more likely to happen.

This is why I’m getting tired of players. They want to go play only for one team, while under contract, that has limited assets, are unwilling to give up a decent asset, then the players wonder why FO’s don’t make moves. Got speed to the franchise that hires “star” players from this generation to FO roles. Such an overinflated status of their wants being more important than anything else.

As many of us suspected. I don't think the promise last year amounted to anything more than "We'll see."

I wouldn’t be shocked if it was nothing more than a “you do your part” type comment. Now with this out there though it makes it harder for the NBA to investigate the “quid pro quo” nature of an extension.

Well, I'm already in that camp. I'll take it a step further. I'd be done with the NBA permanently. At that point it would be blatantly obvious the league has it out for the Sixers, because no organization has been punished and meddled like the Sixers have. And all organizations do the same exact stuff. The NBA just picks and chooses who to target. They've had it out for the Sixers ever since the process and tanking. Everyone knows it. And Silver probably has had it out for Morey ever since he said free Hong Kong.

Why anyone would ever watch a league that is actively singling out and targeting your team is beyond me. I'd just move on from the NBA and never watch it again like I did with the NHL years back.

All I have left are the Sixers and college football, as I've quit the rest for various reasons, but if the Sixers fired Morey over this it would give me an out on the NBA as well. The league hasn't exactly made a secret of having a hard on for the Sixers and clearly favoring certain organizations (LAL anyone?) to the point of creating fake playoffs in a non-season and facilitating mid season trades no sane organization would normally make.

The league probably feels Morey was never properly punished for daring to cross China, and this would give the slimy, slithering snake Silver the perfect opening to see that Morey never works in the league again.

Yup, no way Daryl agreed to anything, and then Harden pulled the Houston **** on Christmas Day. Dude was scampering for that last max contract, and he's pissed that his boy didn't do him a solid.

100% agree. I've never gotten the Morey hate here. Yeah, I wasn't a fan of signing Tucker and a couple other moves, but he came into an impossible spot and gave us a shot to compete again when it seemed that a teardown was the only viable way out of the mess Brand & Co. had produced, then turned a nightmarish Simmons situation into two playoff runs where better play from our stars and competent coaching might have gotten an ECF or even Finals appearance. My only real complaint with him was not schiitcanning Glenn after the Atlanta and Miami debacles, and essentially throwing away last season.

Yeah Doc lasted one season too long, I suspect the owners didn't want to spend extra money, especially given that Harris was buying the Commanders.

I never got it either. I think it is sometimes just a knee jerk, especially in the NBA, to side with players over management.

Yeah, we'll never know, but my suspicions have always been that it was an owner's call to keep Glenn last season. It just made no sense given the consecutive meltdowns and the fact that Morey didn't hire him, and it wasted what will probably go down as the best shot an Embiid led team ever had at a championship.
