Couldn't be further from the truth. If your online gaming experience is limited to bad studios like 2k, then yes, you may be able to reach that conclusion. However, Gaming has seen one of its best years this year and there are plenty of games worth playing online in coop or vs.

If you keep buying 2k you will just expose yourself to more frustration. Vote with your wallet.

LOL no. Micro transactions and monetization at every opportunity is the de facto standard for online gaming and has been for years (shout out to Battlefront 2).

R* is the perfect example of this. Single player DLC for Red Dead 2 never happens in order to support an online mode with slow drip content (including outlaw passes) and a game economy that whiplashes from one extreme to the other, handicapping the monetization potential resulting in no further content for the online mode of a one of a kind open world sandbox. Meanwhile GTA 5 and its online shark card cash cow has been released onto its 3rd generation console while GTA 6 resides in meme status.

I remember the GTA 4 DLC basically being two brand new games

Battlepass makes sense in F2P games and that's the way the industry has gone so i can't be mad when multiplayer games are going this way.

But it doesn't make sense in 2k. You have to pay $80 upfront for the game AND pay extra if you want to play certain modes? That's nonsense.

they did it last year. but you have to buy like some special edition

Last year it was something like $50 extra, and then 2 weeks later, League Pass became $50 anyway.

The past 4 or 5 don't seem to have had any meaningful improvements, and the pay to play just keeps getting worse. I used to enjoy MyPlayer because I actually had fun with that funky style of gameplay (being locked into one player from a baseline perspective), but the story has gotten so cringeworthy and tedious that I wasn't able to make it through the past two. I hope someone else will eventually get the NBA license and do something more than EA has with it.

I loved idea of myplayer mode, but it was too easy, I wish there were hard to even be in a league, but 20 games in I used to put 70 triple doubles, was the mode for five year olds, I don't get the appeal of game that provides no challenge,

It became the unplayable when they introduced story and cutscenes, not to mention it is so terrible and unrelatable, but who the hell even asked for that, I thought it was my player mode, not be this-random-young-idiot-this-year player mode.

Single player still rules.

I get the fun playing with friends, but NBA is so bad with 5 humans, controlled bodies runnng everywhere, game always had that floaty weightless on ice controls, and it really shows with more than one human player on team,

These modes should just be free to play while offline modes should be given new care and be seperate games entirely. Like Halo.

Never been online multiplayer guy, I can only feel sorry for those who are. Personally I love sports for simulation aspect, and I also love very slowm dad like strategy games. After 20 years, I rediscovered something called - Football manager... My god, I feel like Futurama Bender - friends, I have found religion... Also purchased Baldurs gate 3. So want to play something, but I am in a hospital for a long time, at least I have tablet..l

My brother played football manager before and it got so addicting he took the CD out and destroyed it

And then bought another FM like a month later.

Been playing Football Manager since 2012 (buy it every other year). That and Xcom2 are my goto games now.

The only problem with FM is I always play the lowest level of English Football to bring them to the Premier League and I don't watch soccer so I never do learn who the current players in soccer are lol. Sadly never been able to learn tactics well enough so I do have to download some to get it to work (gengepress has been a thing for awhile now huh).

But who doesn't enjoy a relaxing endless scouting campaign that if you're tired you can fall asleep before hitting the space bar.

Almost started doing one save with attributes off for a challenge but stopped as I've brought teams from the lowest level to teh Prem so often. I don't always bring them all the way to winning the Prem and European league though as that takes a long while and the reputation gain is SUCH A SLOG in the game it's mainly just an annoyance with nothing you can do but continuously press space bar compared to at least winning leagues and progressing like going up the pyramid lol. Which I'm sure fans would find blasphemy but seriously it's boring and the reputation gain for clubs in that game is zilch no matter how much success you have and forever caps you from truly getting sponsor money or signing the best players to finish the story in any reasonable time.

My goal always is one day to both win the league and the European Championship in the same season, I think I did it once but generally at best I only win one or the other. 99% of the time I'm brining up Boston United from the lowest leagues to the highest.

I am one guy who didn't like rdr2 at all. I could tell story, characters and cutscenes are amazing, but gameplay itself is sooooo not fun and tedious rather, it actually pisses me off devs were so pretentious and wasted time into developing useless detail thing instead of making missions not completely linear, detection interesting or anything worth wile. I just don't see how shrinking horse balls or hundred looting animations that just slow everything down, makes game better, idk. To me, cutscenes doesn't make a game good, I can just watch those on YouTube.

I think im the opposite on this. I dont really care about the shrinking horse balls but realism in the game is awesome to me. Especially in the combat department...It actually feels like the guns have weight and you cant just spray left and right. I love revolver gameplay and it's the only game i feel that utilizes those guns to it's max. The previous red dead was more arcade like in it's game play which more fans probably liked because your characters movement was much quicker...Almost like the weight of the guns didn't affect him.

Combat in RDR 2 is almost clumsy....And i love it for that lol.

You are right on your criticism my dude. What you said a lot of people who had problems with the game has said as well. The looting is tedious. The sneaking is decent but you can tell its not fully fleshed out. But i love westerns and this game is just amazing to me both story and gameplay. Its the only game i platinumed. I love that the world is so filled with lore one could find stuff still to this day. Like i once hunted in the game and found a pile of corpses all of them wearing football jerseys. Its not a quest or anything its just there. Or finidng a house in the woods where a meteor hit. Its amazing. It gives me a feeling that the world breathes and lives.

Or that you have supernatural elements in the game with callbacks to the strange man in RDR 1 and herbert moon. Just a bunch of side stories you'd easily miss because its not a sidequest or anything. Like you ride into the town of armadillo thats cholera ridden and everyone is affected by it but Herbert Moon. And you think why is this man who has his saloon in the middle of armadillo safe from it? You get to investigating on your own lol. That to me is pure gaming. The fact that i could dissappear in the world is peak gaming to me.

It’s actually pretty ridiculous. Games are more expensive than ever — $70 before taxes for a new game, but the game either isn’t complete and needs a ton of patches and/or you need to pay for things that should be available in the original game.

Sadly, this is the state and direction of most games in 2023. It’s about how much money you can continue to shake out of people for things that shouldn’t cost additional money.

People who love the games don't care.

It's like a days pay for some people who will play after work for 6 months. I mean that along with doordash and legal weed people waste more money on stuff that lasts one day lol

You get less entertainment long-term from a movie visit. I could probably go on and on.

I would probably be willing to pay twice the amount of money if meant no microtransactions, they just enrage me to no end. I hate these BS sports franchise monopolies, exclusive rights killed them.

They're basically adding tiers you can pay every month to get extra rewards...Boosts etc...

So there are different tiers....Highest one is HOF tier in which you pay around 20 bucks a month to get maximum rewards....It's basically money grabbing scheme in it's lowest form there to attract the younger audience who'll undoubtedly be all over this.

So they raised the VC price to upgrade your player in 2K23 to something absurd and now this season pass crap....Gaming has really gone down the **** when it comes to online play.

Only $240 a year for stuff that doesnt even carry over to 2k24. This **** is worse than other online games because at least it carries over....
