Smart had his chance from 2020 to 2023.

Just look at the last few seconds of Game 7 of the 2022 east finals.

Smart missed multiple attempts to secure the Celtic win and it resulted in Jimmy Butler shooting a potential game winning 3 that missed.

The tendency to go off script, by Smart, hurts the Cs.

It's not like the Cs won a chip and they traded Smart.

Brad traded Smart to upgrade the Celtic roster.

Trading Smart was the right move.

Sign me up for Garuba.

Because of his style of play he's going to be a guy whose potential is maximized playing with high quality teammates. He's not a rim protector, but he's a good team defender. Not an offensive threat/lob catcher, but good screener and passer. He's a high motor/hustle guy as well. That kind of player isn't going to shine on teams that are full of holes but throw him in as a cog in an oiled machine and I think you get the best out of them.

It's unfair to compare him to someone like Draymond, but it's that "Draymond" utility role that he could ultimately fill for a team. Keep the ball moving on offense, set hard screens and grab the occasional OREB, ideally knock down the odd three to keep teams respecting you. Defensively be where you're supposed to be on rotations and add a bit of beef up front. He won't be anything overly impressive but he doesn't need to be either, just don't be a net negative.

Wouldn't expect him to crack the rotation but as a minutes eating big with some potential he's a great candidate for one of the last roster spots. We probably aren't high on his list because other teams can probably offer him a more realistic path towards minutes (or more money in Europe) but I think we could actually be a good fit for him. He should still get minutes with our frontcourt expected to miss time/rest and send him to Maine when fully healthy to work on expanding his game.

I'm not huge on Garuba either. I'm fairly high on him. Not crazy high or crazy low.

BUT he does have a pretty good case for being the best big man free agent available right now.

Right now, if you put him in a game there's a good chance he helps his team win more than the other free agent bigs (Griffin, JaMychal Green, Gabriel, Biyombo).

Add in the upside for future development, and he will probably get signed by someone quickly.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Not sure of the relevance. Indeed, I don't recognize the clip, but I like it anyway.

For years, my wife's screen-saver was a picture I took of her with James Marsters.

Could see Mann also.

Kind of warming up to the idea of throwing seconds at them for Isaiah Joe though. Kind of like Wiggins and Earl as bench guys too, but might as well go for the likely best guy.

Oladipo makes like $9 mil this year. I guess OKC could buy him out. But I doubt they waive him, because that'd be a lot of dead money on their books..
