How's that guy even eligible for a 2way deal? This will be his 5th season in the NBA... The rule clearly states players with less than 4 years of expierence.

I assume because he didn't play 2019-20 in the NBA or g-league that the year didn't count towards his seasons.
Edit: He did play 2 games in 2019-20 for the Charge. Maybe it didn't count for whatever reason?

Yeah, idk how dude is getting away with that but guess the NBA feels bad for him.ijspeelman wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:How's that guy even eligible for a 2way deal? This will be his 5th season in the NBA... The rule clearly states players with less than 4 years of expierence.

The internet is on it...
As Bobby Marks of ESPN observes (via Twitter), Windler would previously have been ineligible to receive a two-way contract, but a new provision in the CBA means he's only counted as having three years of service because he missed his entire rookie season with an injury.

So, Brown gets $304 mil g for 5 years. Insane money being thrown around for a guy who isn't even a number one on his own team, the C's are in trouble in a couple of years when Tatum is due. Is Mitchell eligible for a supermax extension since he made all NBA second team?

Since he isn't on the team that drafted him, he will not be up for a super max extension.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of how that works.

All good!
I am still learning my CBA and contract rules. This is one I just happen to know haha.
In the long run, if we re-sign Mitchell to a max offer this will help us stay lower in the luxury tax brackets.

I guess the 2 G league games his rookie season don't count but c'mon i doubt Windler is the intended audience for the 2-way.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Yeah, idk how dude is getting away with that but guess the NBA feels bad for him.ijspeelman wrote:

I know Buycks was like 28 and John Holland 29 and 30 but those are exceptions and were legit within the parameters of eligibility, season wise.

Oh, I do believe Donovan will be eligible for a supermax extension if he reaches the milestones, and if he does, it's hard to believe he'd turn down the amount of money we will offer him
After all, there was a lot of grumbling about Brown wanting to get out of Boston and go be the man for some other team and/or whether a player who struggles to dribble at times and only shot 33.5% from 3pt was worth it; but in the end Boston offered and he took it.

Dylan is still trying to prove himself and has played only 982 total minutes. I don't see a problem.
The Knicks are reportedly going to cut a 19 year old named Trevor Keels to make room for Windler.

How long does the guy need to prove himself? He has sawdust for knees, that's been proven lolJonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:I guess the 2 G league games his rookie season don't count but c'mon i doubt Windler is the intended audience for the 2-way.JonFromVA wrote:

Thought it was a lingering ankle injury last year. We can write him off as "made of glass", but we don't have access to his medicals.
There is literally a 19 year old who lost his 2-way so the Knicks could roll the dice on Winder, so, I get their are repercussions. I just don't see a problem per se. If Dylan was able to stay healthy for a while, he would be back on a development path - even at his age.
And while it may come up in another case, I doubt anyone feels the Knicks are taking advantage of Windler by only offering him a 2-way. He might very well be looking for work overseas or be out of basketball without this opportunity.

Re: Around the NBA
As he should be, if after 4 seasons all a player can muster is 84 games then the 19 year old deserves the shot, not some dude who is about to be 27.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:How long does the guy need to prove himself? He has sawdust for knees, that's been proven lolJonFromVA wrote:

Does the supermax extension not depend on if a team is with the team that drafted them?
How does it differ?

The CBA is as clear as mud, but I'm leaning back towards your interpretation.
Technically Mitchell is already on a supermax extension and I'm unsure if his yearly raises alone can keep him at his new level, whether he can exceed it, or even potentially be forced to take a paycut.
Guess, we'll see ... either way we can offer him a ton of guaranteed money.

Mitchell would not be eligible because he spent 5 years in Utah. If you are with the team who drafted you OR you were traded within the first 4 years you would be eligible for the vet supermax.

Good luck to him. Its hard for a player with his skillset to stay in the league for long, but he brings energy and teams like that at the 12-15 spot off the bench.

I'm pretty sure we'd sign him to spot 14 if it weren't against league rules.
