From the exhibition play, Germany looked like the best team outside of North America coming into this World Cup.

When Canada played Germany twice and then played Spain, I thought Germany definitely looked a step above Spain.

Looking like it will be Canada and Australia meeting in the quarterfinals.
Game, blouses.

Was it me, or it looked like ref really forced them into challenge? Their coach seemed so blindsided there. Better than Italy game, where ref accepted a challenge and then remembered he can't actually change a no call, so he said - my bad. I swear FIBA refs....

No the coach wanted to challenge but the ref said you have to make the signal.

It's never been the tightest but yeah the TOs cumulatively were a bad factor.

End of game play or two gets most attention but really it was all the plays throughout the game that led up to the end of game situation. Every play counts, and there were too many TOs and missed bunnies and wasted opportunities with slow starts to Qs.

LOL no ref will ever call that.

I think they didnt call it because of the bogus step out of bounds play on Schroeder a bit earlier.

Lebanon - Canada is a slaughter, will leave TV with the audio on and go fix lunch before Angola - Philippines. I bet this one will be amazing game.

Germany deserved to win but there seemed to be a pretty serious officiating error at the end, if I’m not mistaken?

Schroeder is out of bounds with 23.6 seconds left, change of possession side ball. Australia inbounds but is only given 14 seconds on the shot clock instead of a full 24 for change of possession. Instead of being able to use a full clock, Patty notices with 6 seconds left on shot clock (15 on game clock) and takes a bad contested drive that results in a turnover.

I think the coach did not understand what he was saying (specifically which call to challenge) maybe he thought it was the foul and not the upgrade

Foul call on Theis?

As a Celtics fan, I used to hear that a LOT.

Yes, but moments before, ref came to him, explained there was a foul it seemed and kind off asked (suggested), do you want a challenge? But maybe it did look that way cause they cut to them then.
Could have called a foul in Giddey, but I doubt he makes all 3

I think it is because the out of bounds was in the German back court/front court for Australia?

It’s been called plenty of times. I’ve seen it in FIBA and in NBA. We didn’t deserve to win but a foul is a foul

Randomly desperately launching yourself into someone isn't a foul in FIBA or the NBA or even in remote outback NT.

Their best guards retired and there is no replacement for them - Olímpio Cipriano, Morais, Almeida off the top of my head.

Tho Fernandes with a SICK slam on the fast break.\

I wonder how strict Angola is on giving out passports, throw in a US guard in there and they will cook.

Not sure how Argentina is still in that #4 spot but that should change soon. At this point, they are just living off past glories. The current team are not even in the conversation.
