OK, this one's over...
CAN perimeter defense is terrifying.

If you look up Mexico's players, you'll see that only one of them is good. The rest are guys that are bench players in the Mexican league. So it's no surprise at all. Like I said, crazy that they're still better than Argentina at this point...

They're not anywhere near to as good as Argentina. Argentina is having some bad results lately, but they still have numerous players that are all clearly better than any player Mexico has.

Canada is just too talented, Shai is just too good, they're taking what they deserve at this point. When they cross paths with team USA it will be a blockbuster, Raps fans will invade the general board like white walkers

Finland and Czech Republic have always been two European national teams that are notorious for having a defensive strategy of just foul every single opposing offensive player, on every single defensive possession, and just make it to where the refs can't just call fouls every time.

They have gotten away with the just foul everyone defense for years, but it looks this year that they are no longer allowing it. When Czech Republic played their qualifier games earlier, they were no longer doing all of the grabbing, pushing, shoving, pulling on defense, and now the same thing is happening to Finland in this World Cup.

It probably has to do with the fact that all of a sudden both teams were starting to have some good results, and so other teams probably started complaining about so much fouling.

Yes Canada has more talent, but Latvia showed what can happen when that talent isn't dialed in and cohesive. Then Canada started defending better and Latvia's live or die by 3 did them in.

Man oh man I was WORRIED in 1st half. This game was tight, and Latvia was doing all the right things playing team ball.

But seriously, yes the classification (17-32) round will be super interesting— despite most out of the World Cup tourney, it’s a tournament within the tournament for those Olympic spots.

A few minor corrections but you get the gist of it and a lot will be decided after today.

The whole qualification process is so crazy. On one hand you have teams qualifying for the olympics with likely 1 or 2 wins in the whole tournament and on the other hand a european team likely needs to go to the semifinals and finish 4th or even with the bronze medal to qualify...

Which is why NBA fans prioritizing the Olympics as the most important tournament makes absolutely no sense at all.

Canada has unlocked the USA-level thing where they can get completely outplayed by an inferior team for a whole half, and then just dominate for 5 minutes and put the game away. I swear the US does that a couple times every tournament.

Listening to Mismatch with Verno and Kevin, they are talking WC, how great the pacing is. Got to love Americans watch 3 international games to be reminded NBA is garbage product. I love basketball, but watch like ten NBA games LIVE, stoppage time just ruins everything, yes Verno, NBA is freaking unwatchable, but you need that TV contract so you could pay Gobert fifty million per year.

Canada currently has the largest point differential in the tournament.

They are the best team in the tournament, I need to see US guard against that defense, and SGA is queen of the chess board on offense, he decides to tqke over and there is no stopping him, factor in the vompetetion and he's 1st round MVP.

Lately? This has been going on for 1,5 years now. World cup qualifiers started early in 2022. That's when ARG already lost badly against venezuela despite Brussino, Vildoza and Delfino playing. They barely beat the Bahamas with zero NBA guys at that point cause hield and jones couldnt play. They also lost to the dominican republic, despite everyone even Laprovitola and Deck being there while DR had zero euroleague or nba guys. Meanwhile Mexico beat "team usa" and beat Brazil as well.

I agree that Brussino, Vildoza, Deck, Campazzo etc. are better players than anyone on mexico's roster, but if we're looking at overall results and team performance, Mexico has been doing a better job over the last 1,5 years. That doesn't take anything away from what Manu, Scola, Nocioni etc. accomplished.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

i feel like usa has multiple players who are capable of going god mode if need be when the going gets tough, whereas canada’s current roster really only has sga and occasionally rj

Only the regular season is garbage. NBA starts in May AFAIC, that's when teams and refs cut the crap.

The RS is just for revenue. Pay and watch at your own peril, no refunds.

Yes, we all know NBA has overwhelmingly the best players, but does it outweigh the fact that half the time, you are watching phlegmatic refs reviewing something, 50 Geico commercials and freaking baby races or tik tai toe games during time outs? It is unwatchable product now, brought by country whose most popular sport literary a concept of seconds of life play stopped by minutes of resetup...
Got to love NBA fans watch and be bamboozled that a time out is 60 seconds long, play tik tai toe during that....

Just watched the Canada-Latvia post game (so far only Latvia). Really like the Latvian coach. He just gets rolling and passionate with his answers. Tells it like he sees it.
