If anyone is up to this I'd love to see theirs. I started my initial list. I'm up to 2017 playlists I'm pulling from and I have 72 songs.

This feels really hard (especially 1x per band) and I'm going to kind of spitball. Which I'm sure will be inexact but still in general give a good idea. My list feels like it's skewing more modern, but I'm not sure that aspect is incorrect either.

Favorite bands - Struggled the most here. Isolating to one song for my favorite bands was really difficult. None of these were an obvious answer. Maybe Grace Cathedral Hill.
1 David Gray - This Year's Love
2 The National - Dark Side of the Gym
)

I just saw The National, good show the venue I was at had some of the best sound I've ever heard.

I don't think I can do this but here is an initial stab:

Guster - Amsterdam
Dirty Heads - Lay Me Down
State Radio - Diner Song
Dispatch - The General
OAR - Crazy Game of Poker
Taking Back Sunday - What’s It Feel Like to Be a Ghost
RHCP - Snow (Hey Oh)
Linkin Park - In the End
50 Cent - Hate it or Love it (remix)
Nelly - Grillz
Mulan Soundtrack - Be A Man
Katastro - 100 Rips
Childish Gambino - Bonfire
Kid Cudi - Alive or Day n Nite
Iration - Falling
311 - Sunset in July
Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
Notorious BIG - Juicy
Jimmy Eat World - Sweetness
R. Kelly - World’s Greatest
Ja Rule - Always On Time

Feel like I'm missing something from Sublime, Tupac, Dispatch, Cartel, Kanye, Lana Del Rey, Ron Pope, Jack's Mannequin, Blink 182, Matisyahu, New Found Glory, Eninem, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, and on and on and on.

Hell it was hard enough figuring out my top 5 artists all time (Dirty Heads, Guster, State Radio, Linkin Park, no. 5 still pending).

Aaliyah...man, I haven't heard her name in a long, long time. Still remember the news of her death.

Mermaid Avenue is *chef's kiss*. Bragg and Merchant are epic together.

Made quite a few changes. Can't believe I forgot Ben Lee, Guster and Dispatch.

Yeah, he's my favorite lyricist. Had the good fortune for his one tour to swing within 8 blocks of my house.

Not easy to do, but my best crack at it:

Free Fallin---Tom Petty (close call between several)
Into the Mystic—Van Morrison (close call between several)
All Apologies---Nirvana
Imagine—John Lennon
Walk on the Wild Side---Lou Reed
Where is My Mind--Pixies
California Stars--Wilco
End of the Line—Traveling Wilburys
Gloria--Them
Sweet Child o Mine- GnR
What I Got--Sublime
Joker—Steve Miller
Bittersweet symphony—The Verge
Paper Planes-Blaqstarr Remix-MIA
Through the Wire—Kanye
Santa Monica-Everclear
How’s it Going to Be—Third Eye Blind
Feel Like Makin’ Love—Bad Company
Got You Where I Want You—The Flys
Laid- James

Tough cuts come from Jay Z, Juicy, Blink 182, Lose Yourself, Stay-Jackson Browne, Raspberry Beret, Night Moves, Heart of Gold, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Sweet Jane, have to be some others I didn't think of probably more on the rap/pop side

This is absolutely a playlist I would listen to. Third Eye Blind reminded me I would probably include The Background in my honorable mention list. That was a heavy rotation late 90s track.

Thanks. Didn't know that one but just ran through it, I should do a deeper dive on them on a drive some time. Background music on it reminds me of Sweet Jane by Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, but closest to the Cowboy Junkies version of it. You might know it already but all of those versions would probably be up your alley if you're not familiar.
