Are you actually implying that there are no scrubs playing in the NBA? So out of about 450 NBA players, 0 are scrubs?

What's even more impressive about the defense is that we've done it without Dort the last 2 games and Brooks in foul trouble all game vs Latvia. Jamal and Wiggins would really complete the team with another scoring ball handler in Jamal and a do-it all big wing in Wiggins.

Outside of SGA though, this team would be completely different without the contributions of Kelly Olynyk. He has easily been our second best player and at times the best to keep our the team afloat with SGA's slow first halves. The game vs Latvia was eye opening as every time Jordi try to steal him some rest minutes, Latvia made a run with him on the bench. Especially without the services of Brandon Clarke and even TT to bang around the more physical international bigs.

I’ve always wanted him on my team in the NBA. I don’t get why he didn’t get more of a role or opportunity. I see him as a player like Al Horford. Great impact in multiple facets, even when they don’t show in the stat sheet

The aim is a representation of at least one country from a continent since it’s the Olympics.

There are still five (?) slots in the OQT, and likely be owned by the Euro teams so it’s still going to be a quality tournamanent.

4 slots. France as the host nation automatically gets one so they won’t count as the two European slots should they finish top two among the European nations.

france is eliminated in the Group stage already. they arent even getting to the knockout stage.

That's just how world tournaments are. Every continent has to be represented or else it's just not a world tournament.

my view There is different: every Country from every continent should have a fair Chance to qualify or else its just Not a World tournament.

powell has been okay in his role but yeah olynyk's skill set is almost tailor made for fiba basketball. the guy is really skilled and canada's perimeter defense and SGA will get most of the credit but olynyk has a huge impact on the team.

Early on people were saying Banchero was terrible too lol.

Been very good in tournament, struggled in friendlies
I don't know about struggled, he wasn't really involved. His defense is pretty good in the friendlies

Hyperbole quotes and stats after two whole games.

Fml.

If anyone watched the US game vs Greece and claims to have absolutely any basketball knowledge you would not be ranking Reeves at all.

If you do, I hereby call you a teenage fan in the stands jizzing whenever a white guy brushes his hair mid play and looks away 2 seconds after making a pass where he throws his hands in the air like a scrub would imitating Magic Johnson.

Yes but they’re hosting the Olympics so have an automatic spot there….

Of course sample size mean nothing, but I don't get why you so against idea that Reaves is good. He was great in play offs, he was literally first guy in LeBrons career, where other guy commanded the ball, was making plays and won the game while lebron was standing in a corner, and Lebron was happy to do it. Reaves had games where he was best player in a team with Lebron and AD also playing. He is on team USA for a reason, he is not some token white guy.

I’ve seen a lot of complaining by coaches/players against US/Canada. Seems like they’re having a hard time accepting that they can’t defend those teams without fouling. Not accustomed to that level of skill with athleticism.

Not sure why anyone would like this tournament, at least with this format. There is no game worth watching tonight. 32 teams is just too much, if Fiba really wants to make this tournament interesting, reduce the number of teams to 24 max. Basketball is just not that popular to warrant so many teams.
In the old Olympics group phase format there were 4-5 great teams in a group of 6 which guarantees 1-2 great games everyday. They **** that up, but they should at least get this right

Anyone know where to watch the USA game? It says 4:40am, so I assume in the next hour and a half this is on?

Edit - NVM got it!

I believe Fox 1 or whatever it's called show these games. There is service called Courtside1891, and I think nbaapp has minute to minute updates.

Anyway, USA v Jordan should be a complete beatdown

Sedekerskis had big game against Montenegro 11reb (4 oreb) + 2blk and good defence against Vucevic (4-13 FGA) and 4 reb

His defence is big surprise for me. On other end Valanciunas plus minus -3 and Lithuania w/o him +79

I agreed first phase is incredibly boring. We got nothing really interesting beside Latvia. But second phase and so on will get interesting.

Personally, I like there are more nations, they try to increase exposure, but I wonder, with some of these nations, does this thing and their team results even make sports news. Some nations here are simply not into basketball.

Like I heard Rugby WC is also going on, but how many people beside English colonies know about that? I remember Lithuanian team won some kind of rugby euro champ once, and it later made the news, because their victory didn't even make national sports news. Basically it was news because it wssnt news at all. I wonder is this basketball thing is the same to same countries.
