Re: 2023 Free Agency
I think a little mentorship by Mike could bring TyTy around. He has raw natural talent and a scoring touch; a little more discipline (work on those free throws!) could mean a longer career in the league for him.

30, 7, 7 in 5 G League games. G League stats may not translate to the NBA often, but still worth picking up at a low cost flyer. If he can pass the ball to the open player at the right time, and make the open 3 he can be beneficial.
25% shooter from three in G league. He can’t shoot yet. That’s the thing.
Yeah, he is not an NBA level shooter yet, more an inefficient scorer.
But I find OKC situation very interesting for us. I have been talking with OKC fans and they believe that their multiple picks have enough value to land any star. Well, I think there are more things in play here. First, superstar usually request trade when they either don't get paid (Harden) or don't see championship path with current team (Dame). So basically for OKC is a market of disgruntled stars. Second, not every star fits current OKC young roster, yes you can use a CP3 as mentor but I don't see role for Dame who will take away shots from young players. OKC can act as 3rd team in trade, for instance get Herro in Dame trade to MIA. Third and most interesting for MIN aspect is that OKC management have to speed up player development program, because they have multiple incoming picks. TyTy Washington is a perfect example, he was waived because they have like 20 players and while history knows multiple examples of players who blossomed late, it is very realistic that he never be an NBA player (same risk with Wendell Moore). For OKC there are multiple negative factors to keep all their picks/young players: pick eat each other value, young players at the same time need playing time AND competitive environment. But I wonder if waiving possibility is always a good motivation, however OKC has no choice, but wave players who don't perform well or don't fit timeline.
I think the biggest OKC need is shooting. If I were Presti I would trade a couple late FRPs for Herro, even if they have logjam in backcourt. If, and that's a big if, Towns will be available for trade, I would trade 5-6 picks for him. SGA is the best slashing guard in NBA, he is much better and creative finisher than Edwards and has elite mid range game, and surprisingly for modern NBA low volume 3pt shooting. IMHO it makes Towns-SGA duo a perfect fit. Add big passing wing Giddey, defensive minded PG Wallace and a thin unicorn Chet and create a very unique lineup.

Call me crazy but I’d happily trade Jordan McLaughlin and leave a roster spot open in order to make room and offer Garuba slightly more than the min to get him.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

I haven't heard anything about him signing yet. I think he would be a great fit for the Wolves, so hopefully Connelly can convince him to sign. Minnesota needs a young PG and there are almost certainly going to be opportunities at the NBA level since Conley will be 36 and McLaughlin played himself out of the rotation last season.
From a scouting report in the Athletic, it sounds like he would provide a lot of what Finch seems to value. Here's some highlights of the pre-draft scouting report:
- Good size and length for a combo guard who shades more toward the lead guard position at 6-foot-3 with a 6-foot-8 wingspan
- Washington’s best skill is as a passer, has the ability to process the game faster than others while usually making the right play
- Not a great athlete but plays with great pace
- Throws terrific live-dribble passes and makes great reads in ball screens
- Great lob thrower
- Constantly hunting for quick reads

This is another advantage for being a contender. Free agents sometimes choose a short-term deal for less, knowing they will get seen, and it might help them on their next contract. Dennis Schroëder took that route.
The good news is that MIN might eventually get that benefit. We need to become a contender, then Ant will make us “must-watch” TV.

Re: 2023 Free Agency
Another reason for TyTy picking the Bucks might be the Bucks current roster structure and player age. Both PGs are quite old (Holiday is 33 and Dragic is 37). He might speculate, that both will miss significant time and that he might use the available minutes to present himself. And yes. The Bucks have 30 National TV games.

Re: 2023 Free Agency
Looking ahead, 2025 is the year I am worried about for free agency, because it will be our most expensive year salary wise unless one of our big contracts is moved.
Gobert will be in the last year of his deal, making 47 million. We will have no 1st round draft pick to use to dump salary either.
We will have Naz, NAW, and Brown as potential unrestricted free agents, we will be unable to extend them either prior to free agency as they will be on 2 year contracts.
The hope is that they will grow into core rotation pieces (Naz and NAW especially).
I hope we will be able to afford them at that point.
Not a fan of TyTy Washington.
For him to bounce from late 1st to 2 way contract after only 2 years, and for so many teams to give up on him so easily, he must be rubbing some teams the wrong way.

Re: 2023 Free Agency
Are there any guys in this FIBA tournament who could help?
Maybe older guys other teams still hold draft rights to who could be had for a 2nd round pick?
We need an eventual successor to Conley, that would be one target.

KAT's team DR has a couple guards of note. Andres Feliz is a combo guard who has been shooting over 40% from 3s in FIBA, and in the Spanish league. Juan Montero is a young point guard who was draft eligible in 2022 and has had some decent numbers for Overtime Elite. Of course, the Wolves already have rights to Spagnola who has had a few good games before getting buried on the bench. I'm not sure if there is anyone else of note in FIBA play, however I think there are several routes to find a Conley successor (though perhaps he will play beyond this coming season if he accepts a team friendly deal to return).
Monte Morris would be ideal to sign this coming off season. I'd include Tyus too, but don't think we'd have the capspace. We could also trade for one of Orlando's young point guards or Killian Hayes. But we might have the guy on our roster in Shake, SloMo, NAW, Ant or Lenny (lol). We could also try to sign Theo Maledon or Kennedy Chandler with our last slot and try to groom him. Finally, we could use our first rounder next year on a point guard.

Re: 2023 Free Agency
Wood end up in LAL, Lakers will be good this year. I look for DLo to rebound now that he accepted the Malik Beasley role. Their bench is greatly improved. Too bad Danny Green resigned with Bucks. I was hoping he could be last year's Rivers but with a more consistent 3pt shoot. - Correction: Green signed with 76ers

The rich get richer. The Lakers will always be able to get good players cheap, who want to be on tv to get their next deal.
I actually wonder how Wood and DLo will interact. Both may expect to show out as the Laker’s #3 option, and Austin Reeves clearly looks like that guy to me.

Wood sucks and is a team cancer. There is a reason every team he has been on doesn’t have want to keep him.

DLO and Wood together. Those are two guys a team can exploit on defense in the playoffs. I'm not all that impressed with the Lakers offseason. Though I think Vincent and resigning Austin were decent moves.

I think the Lakers will go with Davis, Rui, LBJ, Reaves, and Vincent as starting. Vanderbilt, Wood, Prince, Reddish, DLo as main backups. DLo will play the same or more minutes than Vincent. Wood and DLo would mostly defend backup guys so less demand on their defensive ability. I supposed Naz could eat Wood for lunch ( not very tasty). May swap Vanderbilt for Rui in starting lineup depending on defense or offense is needed. One thing about LBJ is that he has the ability to keep the head case guys inline and get the most out of them.
