Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
We can joke about him all we want but this is the type of guy they should be taking flyers on hoping to get lucky. 1st rd pick just a year ago. 5 star recruit a year prior. Full size, only 21. Of course, chances are he doesn't amount to much but at least a guy like him still has a chance to surprise and/or improve rather than a known upper 20s guy who's a "AAAA" player to use baseball terms. Immediately writing 20/21 year olds off as "he sucks" after 1 year isn't right. IF he had played in college last year putting up 15-20 ppg and you got him at the end of the 2nd or as an UFA it would be viewed as a good gamble.

Still have to wait to see if TyTy is willing to abandon his family to live in a gym, think that's a requirement for Giannis.

To be fair to Swanson, he didn't say he'll always suck.
I also am kind of swayed by shaffty's implicit point about how Cal recruits on-ball guards better than he utilizes them. Really a **** ton of NBA guard talent has gone through Lexington during his tenure, all way under-drafted. Hopefully he's healthy and can prove out.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Was a pretty big TyTy stan during that draft process. I worry about his athleticism/separation against NBA athletes, but like emunney said, he's got a legit midrange pull-up and PnR game. Smart handlers/passers who can create for themselves and C&S are welcome.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
nbadraft.net
NBA Comparison: Andre Miller
Strengths: Good sized point with excellent shooting and scoring ability … Can play either guard spot. Excels as a scorer playing off the ball where he can get open by running off screens and using defenders’ momentum against them to get to his one and two dribble pull-ups … Recorded a Kentucky record 17 assists in a game against Georgia when asked to run the point full time … Has good shot mechanics and stays on balance on his jumper. .. Currently shooting 35% from behind the three point arc … Generally makes good decisions with the ball and limits turnovers (4.1 to 1.7 a/to rate) … Is able and willing to involve his teammates and gets most of his offense within the confines of the offense, but can still go out and get a bucket when his team needs one … Has good body control and sees the floor well, allowing him to drive into gaps, keep his dribble alive, and still find scoring opportunities for himself and others … Strong basketball instincts – often finds himself in the right position for rebounds … Willing and able to do a little bit of everything and has a team-first mentality … Has a solid runner / floater game that allows him to drive and score without needing to get all the way to the rim … Has a knack for creating separation from defenders using his body … Good overall body strength …
Weaknesses: Has underperformed in games against high level competition (Duke, Auburn, Kansas) although for two of those games he was dealing with an ankle injury … At only 6’3”, he lacks ideal size for an off-ball guard, but his game may actually be better suited to playing off ball … Lacks the initial burst and quick first step that you’d ideally see in a lead guard. Is more crafty than athletic and will struggle with good defensive guards guarding him … While he is a good shooter, he doesn’t get great lift on his outside jump shot, which could make it difficult to get his shot off in some situations … Often times does his work quietly – doesn’t always impact the game as much as his raw stats would have you believe … Older for a freshman as he turned 20 in November …
Outlook: TyTy Washington is one of the top guards in this draft class. He may not be flashy, and he may not have elite size or athleticism, but he is very efficient and makes winning basketball plays … His ability to create offense for both himself and his teammates while limiting turnovers bodes well for his long-term future … He has a deadly one and two dribble pull up game, which will also allow for him to add the step back jumper into his arsenal … He’s the type of player that could assimilate to virtually any roster because of his wide range of skills and his competitiveness on both ends of the court as well as his ability to play either guard spot … He figures to be one of the top guards taken in the upcoming NBA draft.
Eric Yearian 2/25/22
Notes: Measured: 6’2.25” barefoot, 6’3.75” in shoes, 8’3.5” standing reach, 196.4 lbs, 6’8.0” wingspan at the 2022 NBA Draft Combine …

Draft Notes
The former Creighton recruit is now at Kentucky and looking like a one and done first rounder in the 2022 NBA draft.
TyTy is a lightening quick point guard with scoring instincts. He’s at his best in an up-tempo game and can really push the pace of play.
He’s got crafty handles and does a good job of blowing by his man and getting into the lane to score or drop it off for an assist.
TyTy is a very good outside shooter who uses his speed to get separation and find room for his shot. He’s got good shooting form and a shot that projects well to the next level.
On the defensive end he really stands out thanks to his great instincts and effort. He’s a winner who plays both ends of the floor and seems to take pride in his defense.

Kentucky is such a basketball sieve. Cal doesn't know anything about his players.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Saw this on Reddit
I don’t want to overreact here or anything and I’ve seen maybe 5 minutes of him playing in the NBA but I think it’s pretty obvious he’ll be a star on the Bucks.
Here’s every Kentucky guard drafted in the first round since 2015:
Devin Booker
Jamal Murray
Malik Monk
De’Aaron Fox
SGA
Tyler Herro
Immanuel Quickley
Tyrese Maxey
TyTy Washington
Shaedon Sharpe
Cason Wallace

There was a time that he was a good coach. I don't think he is anymore.
He's definitely not "one of the worst " though.

Part of what makes him a good coach is his ability to get guys into the league. UK is the NBA factory right now.

He gets guys paid in the league. Plenty of high school pedigree guys go somewhere and don't get paid.
