Im kind of assuming that they want to promote Wiggington to regular contract if they make a 2 for 1 trade. Meh

Gross.

Cut Wigginton and give Gortman that 2way. Let TyTy, Gortman, & Omari Moore battle all season for the backup PG role and bump the winner to the 15 before the playoffs

There was a time that he was a good coach. I don't think he is anymore.

He's definitely not "one of the worst " though.

Part of what makes him a good coach is his ability to get guys into the league. UK is the NBA factory right now.

That is definitively what makes him a good recruiter. And yeah, I was being hyperbolic saying he was one of the worst coaches. I can say that I think he is a bad coach that simply has about 200% the amount of talent on the roster as any other opponent that he is typically matched against.

Cal's a great recruiter based on past reputation and the name of the school. He's not a great coach, at least not anymore. He always blames the players when the team underperforms. The old "it's tough to win with a bunch of freshmen" excuse at press conferences. Coach K did that a bunch once he embraced the "one-and-done" recruit (though he's an infinitely better coach than Cal).

Yeah I've seen enough of Wiggington. Not even that big of a Gortman fan, but at least he's a worthy flier to take. Especially with AJ Green now rostered, the Bryn Forbes "undersized SG" role as been adequately filled.

It's true, though, about the bunch of freshmen. No substitute for experience. What's nonsense is him throwing them under the bus as if it's not the life he chose.

If you watched some of those press conferences I wouldn't call it throwing under the bus. Most of the time he was defending the kids from criticism, standing up for them. Essentially saying "hey stop bashing these 18/19 year olds they're just freshman". In the process of course its creating an excuse for himself but every time I saw him talking, he was doing it from a support the kid perspective or at least spinning it that way. After watching several of those conferences over the years I was swayed from being a hater on him.

But yea no one is gonna say he's some Xs and Os genius. Might even say his skill development isn't great since he gets supremely talented kids to begin with. But seems to me whatever NBA prep/training they do has generally been good.

He's got good touch and timing on lobs, too. The basis of a PnR operator is there.

TyTy kinda reminds me of Markell Fultz. I like Fultz.

When I first saw the announcement about Washington, I thought it said Wigginton and, in turn, thought the Bucks signed another player's brother. I was like, hmm, that's an odd favor.

Portis is not getting a ton of minutes on the World Cup team either. He seems to be an unusual fit often times on the court. The attitude he brings and ability to create camaraderie may be some of his greatest traits other than being a professional scorer.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

I think we need to throw out expectations a bit and see what AG wants to do with these guys. Bud seemed more fixed on building the D around Brook which worked out well, but I won't be shocked if everything changes. Hell maybe Brook even comes off the bench, who knows. Let him thrive against second units and keep the starters more nimble and switching, doesn't matter to me.

He played in 70 games last year and played 21:30 + in all but 10. Most of those that he missed the mark were around the time of his injury in January/February.

Averaged 26 MPG, 2nd most of his career. His minutes seem fine to me.

Am convinced that part of a players appeal as a prospect is how cool their name is. First observed this years ago with Ike Diogu.

On draft night 2022, the idea of selecting TyTy Washington appealed to me, partly because he's got a great hoops name.

Definitely no chance a dude with a generic name like Joe Smith would ever go #1 overall
