Who would you rather build around - current Tatum or prime Pippen?

Pippen. I'd take perhaps 1 (or 2) more players whom are better on offense - not overall - at the guard position, and not look back.

I am struggling to see the pro-Pippen argument if this is for a modern environment.

I think defense is an argument, don't you think?

I don't see it. I struggle to envision Scottie exerting the same sort of defensive pressure today as he did in his own time, and his struggles with scoring out of the paint are also problematic. And he was a good playmaker, but not a great one, very much not a dude you want playing helio or shouldering a heavy load.

I could easily see him participating on a good team, I mean we have all seen Draymond. But I don't believe I'd think twice before taking Tatum over Pippen. Again, in a contemporary environment.

I mean, I would take peak Green over Tatum in most realistic situations...

I mean Draymond is a much better floor-general, defender, and passer than Scottie. Are we sure Draymond wouldn't be better than Pippen today?

I am not sure he's worse at all. I don't think he's much better floor general or passer (he is much better defender), but I am confident with Green over Tatum for peaks.
