Re: 2023 ATL Thread
The Angels aren't even in the race. If he needs surgery he should get it ASAP
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Re: 2023 ATL Thread
They were 56-51 on July 31st and at least looking to be in solid wildcard contention. They've gone 5-16 since then. Just an absolutely brutal end to the Ohtani era in LA.

Re: 2023 ATL Thread
Sad that Stephen Strasburg is forced to retire a little early due to health issues.
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/stephen-strasburgs-legacy-was-marred-by-injury-but-the-nationals-aces-greatness-shouldnt-be-ignored/
While the main reason for his retirement is not related to arm problems, his mechanics have always been an issue. I remember when he came up and there were some contentious discussions on an earlier Brewers forum about his flying elbow, inverted W, Mark Prior-like mechanics.
A great pitcher when he was right, but only 113 career wins is telling.

I hate this. Unless the Brewers are awarded someone.

Doubt anyone makes it to Milwaukee.

The only guy I'm guessing they'd be very interested in is Moore.
-Lopez...maybe? He's an OK reliever but I'm sure they are more confident in just calling up more flamethrowers/Gasser/Ashby.
-Renfroe has burned bridges in Milwaukee.
-Grichuk plays bad defense, which they really seem to be against these days...and if you take away Coors Field - might not even be an upgrade on offense?
-Giolito is fine but the Brewers already have 4 solid starting pitching options and will just bullpen the rest.

I'm trying to decide if it is better or worse for the next decade of the Angels to sign Ohtani back. Probably worse?

Selfishly I'd like him to go to an AL Central team.

Haha...to go and watch him play or just keep him far away from playing against the Brewers?
Obviously I know you aren't being totally serious but I imagine that Illich taking out some Little Caesars money like his dad is about the only snowflake's chance in hell for that division.
But back to the original point - yeah, technically they could go truly bonkers in free agency but with the luxury tax, it's hard to imagine with Trout, Rendon, Ohtani taking up almost $150 million combined each year for the next 3 and then Trout/Ohtani at probably $100 million combined for the 5+ after that that you can build much of a team, much less Trout/Ohtani holding up through their 30s.
They've backed themselves into likely a 3+ year rebuild at this point if they do it the right way.

Grichuk not claimed.
Moore, Giolito, Lopez to Cleveland
Renfroe, Bader (dumped by Yankees) to Cincy

Bucknor has always been right behind Hernandez as worst ump
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Jackson Holliday is on his way to AAA. Pretty incredible for his age and draft class.
