But is Giannis cool holding onto the 2029 first until we can deal more picks after the draft?

Probably ok with letting it play out this year unless it gets really dark by the deadline.

You can see with Dame and KD once they get you in that extension you lose the leverage to ensure things happen. Giannis signs for 5 more years and I could see the FO/Ownership group being like yeah but 2030 is so far away.

If giannis is gonna commit 5 more years to us, its only right we commit 7+ more years to him by trading 2028/2030 to compete right now.

This is exactly how he operated before the last max and what did we do? Trade every 1st for the best guard we could get and then he signed.

Interesting that they'd prioritize Iverson when he was basically G League depth *before* TyTy, Moore, and Gortman joined the franchise. Barely played in SL.

Certainly don't mind incentivizing players to stay with the Herd, and I do think Molinar is probably a quality G League guard as he develops, but it's a bit puzzling to me from either side of the contract.

I could see Giannis being ok with mostly internal improvements vs cashing in the 2029 first and a role player/s he likes a lot (Pat or Bobby) for just a modest upgrade like Collin Sexton or Terry Rozier.

If we could get a bigger upgrade like Quickley (who hung out in Greece earlier in the summer) or Lillard somehow that’d be a different story.

Bucks do have swaps in 2028 and 2030 and MarJon if there were to be a bigger deal.

I really don't love this roster without the addition of a Sexton, Quickly, Rozier type. Its not bad, but it needs a little infusion.

So Giannis wants to win more titles? If that's all he wants the solution is easy. Sign a new deal for 10 mil a year. I would be very glad with 10 mil a year, certainly if I already have 100+ mil in the bank....

I would also be very glad to take the $60m from another team that could be a contender.

Think we have to wait, when we have more draft picks to trade a year from now. Get a bigger name. And after this upcoming season, we might learn that either Jrue, Brook or Midds have fallen off the wagon, and we'd use their salary in said trade.

Also remember, LAC might implode. As unreliable and Kawhi and PG13 are, they may go on the block.

I think he’s a consistent 3pt shot away from being an nba player so i dont mind keeping him another season to see if its there

Big difference if we’d have to trade a first or even swaps vs if it’d be Allen and 1 of Pat or Bobby and seconds.

Sexton smoke wasn’t definitive about what we’d have to deal.

However idk if that is sourced better than Shaffty enthusiasm + this Behind The Bucks Pass alum (also NBAInsiderGoat and Sam Amico if you think either matters):

“Could be a contender” is not “very good chance to win more titles”.
Any team that signs him for 60 mil a year will not have multiple stars.
If Giannis cares for titles and nothing else than titles, he can do something about that. But he won’t. I would like to see how he answers a question like this.

Giannis should come out and say he wont resign again with the bucks, that will give those 1st rounder a much better value, bucks make a trade and then he resigns :)
