Team CANADA finally arrived. Supposed to be here in 2016, but better late than never. Looks especially great, that biggest stars (SGA, Barrett, even Olynyk) seem to love the experience and CARE A LOT, arent mailing it any minute or hustle play. It gives hope attitude towards this team flipped finally, and all the best Canadian ballers will really want to play in the future. Omissions happen every year for every team, but CANADA seem to get closer to that EUroesque mindset, where playing for your country seems important and natural.

Ommm, yeah. We are a tiny nation of 2M and we lack 2 of our starters. we have no one to replace them. I wasn't expecting us to be in1/4 at all TBH. I'm pleased with what guys achived. But it's so funny to read how SGA is better than Luka based on this game or any other. We have only Luka that plays on top level, and 1 guy that playes Euroleague. You have how many, 9 NBA players? Guys, you should have steamrolled us in 1st half already just by comparing pure talent AND atleticism.

All that aside, I'll root for you guys now, go get that gold!

I didn't say SGA is better than Luka. I think those comparisons are silly. They are different players with different strengths. Yes we have more NBA players but we've seen that having NBA players isn't all that. You have to have complimentary players, and you have to have team cohesion. Canadian team hasn't played together much at all. We aren't big on the front court, and despite the stats we don't have consistent 3 point shooters on the perimeter like European teams. Congrats to your team for getting here.

Luka finishes another tournament in same fashion, watching from the bench. As the announcer said, he should know in FIBA the rules are for everyone.

murray wiggins and sharpe aren't playing for canada.

So? The majority of your guys still play in NBA

No one argues that what small Slovenian country did and is capable of in basketball is super impressive, but this is not about that, and if we talk that, out of any quarterfinal teams, Slovenia were closest to having its best possible team, also the only team with naturalized player, which is fine, but I am just saying.

Sorry, I know you must be very disappointed, same happened to me yesterday.

Doesn't matter. You suck it up and keep playing. Does the complaining help improve the officiating? Do the multiple techs they've earned make the game any easier?

Easier said than done when you play in a game with so much on stake and refs are clearly not on your side to put it VERY mild. I know I wouldn't be able based on my competitivnes.

Seems to be a lot harder for Luka than it is for other players

Good, I only want to watch players who want to be there.

Aren't you just watching referees doing their things?

You gotta understand, I don't care if FIBA is popular, I don't care if it's successful, I don't care if superstars want to play in it, I don't care if america thinks it's important or not. I like it exactly as it is. That guy right there was whinging and taunting the refs all game, and he got tossed. Good. That's what should happen. Did it affect the outcome? It did. Good. These are the rules of the game, take it or leave it.

Not necessarily, because Americans share the pie. Guys like Luka, SGA, Bogdanovic, Markannen eat most of it.

I imagine its not powerranking, just a stat based list.

Heh, just saying Luka should cut down on complaining in FIBA tournaments, he can still do it in NBA. Don't be so sensitive. I'll even wish you Luka and Mavs make the playoffs next season.

loved canada's game plan of keeping a body on doncic at all times and being super physical with him. he was drenched in sweat at the end of the first half and you could tell he was losing steam in the 3rd quarter. canada just had too big an athletic advantage and it took slovenia shooting the lights out in the first half to keep it close.

was genuinely worried because it felt like canada eased up after doncic was ejected and slovenia made them pay for it, but luckily they stopped their momentum in time.

Serbia +4.5 vs Canada
Germany +10.5 vs USA

I would have predicted a tossup line between SRB-CAN but books see the Canadians as the slight favorites.

Interesting, early lean is Serbia but SGA is just damn too composed and will be difficult to stop.

The other SF matchup will be an American win, the only question is if it’s going to be a blowout.
