This just isn't true

what improvement did he make after he originally set it up?

-He consistently got several players to play at career best levels under him(Brook, Pat, Jevon, Giannis, Bobby)
-we had historically good playoff defenses under him
-in 6 games without Giannis in the playoffs he went 4-2 showing he wasn't just being carried by Giannis
-3 separate years we had the best record in the NBA including this past year when Middleton missed a large chunk of the season
-Despite being without Middleton he took Boston to 7 games in a series we had no business being in
-Despite the theory that Bud never made "adjustments" the Bucks often played better as the series went on(lost game 1 7 times but still won 5 of those series)
-He won an NBA Championship with only 1 HOF on the roster which is incredibly rare

Was he perfect? Of course not but to say he was bad is just wrong

NONE of this answered my question.

-His system is good for role players with specific traits, but it allowed just as many players to fall off cliffs.
- We have 3 all time defenders on the team
- The Hawks should not have been in the ECF
- I will not argue that his All in attitude about 3 pointers is very successful in the regular season (also Giannis is worth 50 wins)
-Every playoff loss we experienced under Bud was caused by a refusal to adjust to specific plays. Every single one.
-See above
- Khris Middleton will be in the Hall of Fame.

You can’t accomplish those things by “setting it up” and letting it ride. He continued to have all of those successes over his tenure.

they happened on the original let it fly drive and kick, stretch 5 offense, with the drop defense. He never changed.

He kept the same general base scheme but if you don't think he ever changed anything I'm not sure what to tell you. There are the more obvious things like adding the dunker spot in 2021 or running guys off the 3pt line more defensively this past season, or there are more subtle changes he made like how he would spend an entire game running zone to get his guys to practice it in a game setting or learning to trust his players instincts like when he let Khris take more midrange shots, PJ guard KD, or Jrue guard Jimmy(sometimes this worked and sometimes it didnt)

His scheme BTW was hardly just drive and kick around Giannis, as I mentioned before there were 6 playoff games where Giannis was out, in those 6 games Bud went 4-2 and their offense was very much not just drive and kick. He knew how to play to his players strengths and adjusted his scheme to do that.

On top of that you're just talking about schemes, there were several non scheme related things he did after his 1st season like developing role players, learning to shorten his playoff rotations quicker, and learning how to play specific matchups in the playoffs(think benching Bobby vs Brooklyn but closing with him vs phoenix)

It comes down to health with us. For all the pessimism of the past two years, injuries have cruelled any chances we had of making a deep run. Yes we didn’t do ourselves any favours with our play and general bed wetting, but realistically we were never going to win with Midds out in 22 and Giannis injuring his back in 23.

Other unknown is Beasley. He could be such a good pickup for us if he buys in and plays his role. But if he’s slack on D and too chuck happy we’ll be back to square one with Grayson at SG.
I think we have a team capable of winning a title but we need luck with injuries and someone like. Beasley or Marjon to make a significant contribution.

his biggest change took him 4 seasons to realize 'hey maybe dont help off good shooters'

he doesnt get credit for letting khris middleton take the shots he is best at, it should actually be a mark against him that it took him an entire season to do that!

Our defenses have been historically good in the playoffs, I think it's safe to say he coached quite well in that area.

Also I listed like 10 things he did after his first season and you found one to not even debate that he did it, just that you are saying he shouldn't get credit for it lol

The offense routinely **** the bed in the postseason because players couldn't make their open shots and now we're hoping a defensive coach and a couple retread assistants can turn it around with our top pick that shoots the three like he's in a shot put contest.

More truth in this post than a stabilising component of a fence made entirely from Paul Pierce.

Ehh, Maybe. Bud was a pretty amazing regular season coach. Also, will Brook and Jrue maintain their level of play from last year?

we wont know how good this coaching staff is for a long time but there is a decent chance that Griffin isn't a good head coach. he's known as a defensive tactician, but that alone will not make him a good nba coach. i hate to go there, but this kind of reminds me of the Broncos hiring the one dimensional Nathaniel Hackett because they were hot after Aaron Rodgers. i just hope Giannis is a bit humbled if this blows up and says, "Alright, yeah, you guys pick the next one," instead of jumping ship.

One might say calling this staff/roster objectively better is a bit disingenuous.
