This American only cared about qualifying for the Olympics.

Nah I'm pretty sure they'd like to have that gold.

That much is true. Partizan was indeed great in this year's EuroLeague.

Steve Kerr is a good coach otherwise why Mark Jackson with the same team won 20 game less in RS and was knocked out in the first round?

In this format (win or go home) yes.

I am curious how a Euro coach leading a roster of European players running a FIBA style offense would fare in the NBA.
If I was a small market NBA team that needed a way to find relevancy and a niche to attract fans, players -- that seems like an experiment worth pursuing. (Looking at you, Charlotte Hornets.)

Question:How is Zeljko's English?

Even Steve Kerr admits that these teams are for real. They were shooting for the gold, they failed. They know they can’t be sending these Tier 2 teams now.

Interested to see how Grant Hill manages this moving forward— balancing what the NBA wants and what Team USA needs.

Zeljko is a psychopath he would not last in a NBA team for more than 5 minutes the way he screams at players at every possible moment would not work with Americans (in America anyway he would be accused of bullying/whatever other PC crap). Great coach but.

exactly, is always my question...
what does a bottom team have to lose... give full powers to Zeljko... players who don't comply are traded

I'm sure in 3 years Charlotte go to playoff.

They are undefeated and although they have some weak points those weaknesses are not highlighted. Latvia was in the game against them purely because of Bertans insane shooting performance. Germany is such a good match for Serbia, better than USA. What can Serbia do to stop Wagner and Dennis ? I expect big battle and typical Euro low scoring game this time.

Germany is a very balance team on both ends. A very big and mobile time at that which is hard to guard and outrebound. However, hell no. Latvia was not in the game because of Bertans (he was not the top scorer on the team, btw, Žagars was, particularly during crunch time). Latvia came close because it managed to put Schroeder out of his comfort zone and generally played a good team D, with some lapses that allowed for German runs. Was really overpowered down low. Ger is the best team so far as far as the bigs and their mobility is concerned only matched by Serbia.

Kerr got lucky in that David Lee was injured when he took over and he had to start Draymond. He's a good coach but let's be real, he has two of the most unique talents in NBA history with Curry and Draymond.

Well, they can send tier 2 and still qualify for the Olympics. I'm sure they would've liked to win this tournament but that wasn't the main goal.

Ben Shelton (USA) vs Djokovic (SRB) in a couple of hours in the US Open Semis.

LOL maybe it’s time for an American underdog to change the mood in the US today.

If FIBA is going to continue to schedule this the year before the Olympics, you can expect tier 2 to be sent next time too. Top players aren't going to give up 2 summers in a row.

Not even the same. Canada's literally building their program and even getting bronze would be an accomplishment. Heck qualifying for the Olympics is an accomplishment.

Can't be worse than anything else that's happened over the last decade for that franchise.

Players simply wouldn't respond to that. It also works in Europe cause every game is meaningful. Not the same in an 82 game season. Now imagine him on a tanking team. It would just be useless.

Some things just aren't compatible.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Entitled Americans maybe, everyone else seems to be keen on playing and representing their countries.

My man Jonas V. has not skipped a single FIBA tournament since 2011, meaning he played every year. AMericans usually dont even send NBA guys in continentals, so they play half the tournaments by default. FIBA tournaments happen EVERY year my man.

Jokic? Giannis?

NBA players play more games, more minutes per game, in a shorter span of time and travel much more. They play in a more physically gifted league and at the highest level of the competition. They also earn a lot more money. It has nothing to do with entitlement.
