Why all the scapegoating of individual players? It's clear the main issue has been team construction, coaching, and chemistry.

These are all very individually talented players, and they each individually played well. Hence the high shooting %. The problem is, this team was constructed in such a way that the players mostly don't complement another. They aren't playing together. There aren't enough defensive bigs on the roster. There are no simple pick and roll, pick and pop plays available to this team. They have to ISO and create with acrobatic circus shots.

Kerr and Grant Hill are most to blame.

Kerr's really lucky to have Draymond. Turns out having a switch-heavy defense not anchored by an all-time great defender doesn't work so well when your guards get hunted like Steph does.

LOL maybe it’s time for an American underdog to change the mood in the US today.

LOL "the mood in the US"

Most people in the US are probably hearing about this tournament for the first time today (because the US lost), if at all.

Brunson was a -19 today in 20 minutes. All of the starting lineup guys had a negative +/- with the exception of Ant, who had a +- of 0 because he played 34 minutes and thus was on the floor with bench players.

Haliburton was +14 in 19 minutes.

We have no playmaking or shotmaking in the starting unit. You know who we need to bring in? Josh Hart.

Idiotic coaching job all around. Wish Spoelstra was the head coach.

Where’s the “FrEe MoNeY” posters now? I got hammered pre tournament for saying $1.80 for USA to win gold was too short. I then got hammered again for saying it after they lost to Lithuania.

Well, I predicted a USA-Canada match-up. And we'll get it. Just for the bronze instead of the gold.

America doesn't really care about the FIBA World Cup. The only reason I even followed it is because it's the off-season. That said, respect to Germany and Serbia for knocking off teams with legit star-level NBA talent (Edwards, SGA).

Defense did us in today, but overall that starting unit was an anchor that routinely put us in bad positions right off the tip. I'm not going to go back through the play-by-play but there had to have been at least three games where we were down double-digits or close to it in the first quarter. That's going to hurt even great teams, let alone this one. Especially in a shorter game.

EVERY tournament it's the same thing here.......

USA wins and it's "we are the best ever, look at how we completely dominated and totally destroyed all those slow, stiff, minor league jokes"......

USA loses and it's "no one cares about this tournament, no one even knows this tournament exists, and the USA is not even attempting to win these tournaments".....

You guys really need to come up with some new material.

I am pretty sure players who represented the USA cared. This should sting USA basketball, some of their deficiencies are visible, like the lack of the quality in the front court, slow adaptation to FIBA basketball etc. Also USA U19 squad have lost before the finals this summer. USA basketball definitely have some issues even though they unquestionably have the most and the best talent in the world.

If I was a small market NBA team that needed a way to find relevancy and a niche to attract fans, players -- that seems like an experiment worth pursuing. (Looking at you, Charlotte Hornets.)

Question:How is Zeljko's English?

exactly, is always my question...
what does a bottom team have to lose... give full powers to Zeljko... players who don't comply are traded

I'm sure in 3 years Charlotte go to playoff.

I dont bet online, and my local place had no '''the field''' option, but I would have put money on it. I mean yeah, captain hindsight, but I just like cheering against team USA in general and I am not surprised they didnt win it. I mean them winning would have been expected, but them losing is far from shocking. Free money it was not, and line its just garbage, 1.8? DUde, they just weret THAT good. Few really good teams that could have eliminated them, and one of them did. Just look at this Germany roster, even from NBA perspective it is not that shocking they win, some teams were stacked relatively speaking, and you need to win 3 single elimination rounds, good look with 1.8 freaking odds if you like living on a prayer.

Definitely think Spo could've done a better job getting more out of these guys.

I got it wrong brother, you were right. I never expected such passive and predictable coaching from Kerr (and fkn Spo!), they changed nothing and solved nothing. Nor did I expect Andi frigging Obst having a career night on the biggest stage he will ever see in his career. Good on him honestly, very impressive.

I have told you this over and over, NBA players don't play defense. Obst is a guy that averages 6.0 points in EuroLeague. Last year at EuroBasket, Greece implemented that NBA Bucks system and tried that style of defense. He lit them up. And the same with Team USA in this tournament.

Obst is like an average second option (backup in NBA lingo) at the two guard position in EuroLeague. You are always arguing with me that NBA plays this great defense...........113 points. Freaking Kariniauskas........guy is pretty much a scrub in Europe, and was the main problem for them in the Lithuania game.

They don't play any defense.

Man, I'm not gonna start that discussion again, the play the kind of defence that is allowed in the NBA with NBA rules and refs. And also they don't box out because nobody hunts offensive rebounds in the NBA. None of that works in fiba, ok, but you would expect a coaching duo like Spo and Kerr to come up with something to at least make their athleticism work for them, as it has in past. A zone, traps, full court press, something. They did **** all
