Of course talking about young Danilo in his early 20s, before his injury.
What's interesting is that there some similarities between those guys in both their build and playstyle.
Similar shooters, Danilo I would say slightly better. Franz probably a better finisher because of how he perfected his eurostep, but Danilo was very aggressive attacking the basket and had a significantly higher FTR that made him significantly more efficient.
Not sure about Franz's passing, I know Danilo was actually pretty good at that, I think they are similar defenders.
Who do you think is better?
It's a pity because I think Gallo would have made a couple of ASG's without those injuries

Eh, franz has a lot more creation ability, like putting the ball on the floor, driving to the rim, creating his own shot. Gallo was mostly a shooter, like, he was a 6'10 shooter who was smart and knew how to foul bait. gallo could also play in the middle/high post. yeah i think gallo provided value as a great shooter and efficient scorer but franz is better.

Re: Franz Wagner vs Danilo Gallinari
I take Franz here. I like his arsenal and more complete skillset more. At that, Gallo was a very underrated transition player (1.31 PPP, > 90th percentile, in 2013). I take Franz as I like the passing chops he offers more-so. This is a very interesting / close comparison however, wouldn't have thought of this at first

Franz has a lot more creation ability as your go to guy in comparison to Gallo. I agree Gallo should've been a star (some 20 PPG sniper, but could've been a legit #1 on lower teams) throughout his career. If you watch some of the FIBA tape closely, you can see how much Germany relies on Franz's leadership and creation ability. IMO, made them look like an elite team on the international stage and now they've reached the finals.
