Analyzing NBA 2K Team Ratings: What Does It Mean for the Upcoming Orlando Magic Season?

Post#1 » by eyriq » Sat Sep 9, 2023 3:41 pm

Hello, RealGMs!

https://www.2kratings.com/current-teams

As we all eagerly await the start of the new season, I thought it'd be interesting to delve into some analytics. I've gathered data from the recently released NBA 2K team ratings, and here's how our beloved Orlando Magic stack up.

Orlando Magic Attribute Rankings:

Here's a quick rundown of where the Magic ranks in the league based on different attributes:

  • Overall Rating: 28th
  • Inside Scoring: 14th
  • Outside Scoring: 21st
  • Athleticism: 26th
  • Playmaking: 25th
  • Defense: 13th
  • Rebounding: 18th
  • Intangibles: 20th
  • Potential: 26th
  • Best Player Overall: 27th

Strengths:

1. Defense: Ranked 13th in the league, it seems like our defensive schemes could be a bright spot this season.

Weaknesses:

1. Overall Rating: At 28th, the Magic is one of the lowest-rated teams, which suggests a challenging season ahead.
2. Athleticism and Potential: These attributes are ranked 26th, indicating limited athletic capabilities and in-season growth potential.

Opportunities:

1. Inside Scoring: Currently at 14th, a few improvements could make this a strong suit for the team.

Final Thoughts:

While the ratings are not a definitive measure of how the season will unfold, they do give us some data-driven insights into the team's current standing. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that the team outperforms these ratings!

Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions. Let's go Magic!

I don’t play video games, how accurate is this game at predicting the upcoming season?

My answer to this thread is that video games don't predict seasons lol. They adjust to how the players are playing throughout the year - if we're 28th overall then it's definitely underrating the team.

I like the Magic to make the play in.

I see BK, Raptors falling. Magic, Pacers making the play in

This means absolutely nothing lol. Although we are one of the youngest teams in the league I don’t know why our potential would be ranked so low unless they think we have a ton of scrubs on this team with no upside.

I don’t play games anymore other than God of War2018. Even COD sucks (my kid plays it) but nothing disappointed me more than playing last years. A friend lent it to me and it was utter trash.

Best ones were 2k12 etc.

I don't have as high as expectations as some here, but the only way we finish 28th is if Paolo gets a season-ending injury in the first 25 games of the year. This team isn't regressing. I also don't think the majority of players and coaches see us as the 28th best team. We're not going to be sneaking up on people.

Someone with time and inclination should simulate some seasons for us to predict which lineups will perform best. We’ve got 4 weeks left so 1 per week would give us plenty of fictional data to argue over

21st in outside scoring is generous.

Return to Orlando Magic
