Re: 2023 Free Agency
Vic Krejci is a pretty good signing on a training camp deal. I think he would be a good addition if the Wolves can sign him to their last two-way spot.

If it's an exhibit 10 we can just convert him into a 2-way (with or without his consent).
If it's an NBA contract with zero guaranteed (usually veterans sign this type), different story.

Re: 2023 Free Agency
I would take Elfrid Payton as an upgrade over McLaughlin.
But now that his contract is guaranteed that isn't happening.
Payton cannot shoot a lick (which is why he's had a hard time finding long term stability), but otherwise has been a pretty good all around player who is solid in all other areas. J mac can't shoot a lick either.
He would be a decent addition with our 15th spot, but with our cap situation I don't see us adding a 15th player (or upgrading Garza to an NBA contract) until after the All-Star break when we know how Gobert's incentives are going to shake out and what our injury situation will be.

Our bench is filled with guys who average less than 10 ppg in their careers - Milton, NAW, Anderson, Brown. We could use a guy who can get a bucket. I have a feeling Ross - at the min - could help this team. Just a gut feeling.
There is also ties with Lloyd being part of the front office during Ross' time in Orlando.
I feel like our offense will continue to evolve into more of an Ant+shooters system over the coming years and Ross would be a decent get as an end of bench shooter
He has to be enough of an all-around player to contribute more than just that though.
We don't need the latest version of Bryn Forbes. That's a big net negative.

Gotta say no thanks to an unproven 20 year old rookie from Europe.

Video is 3 years old. He's 23 and has been in the NBA for the last 2 years.

Can’t say I know a lot about him. Is the tldr just that he’s intriguing with a lot of potential but hasn’t stayed healthy enough to stick with a team?
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Shooting is the big weakness.

Re: 2023 Free Agency
I watched Vit a lot with okc. He's got good bball feel on the court but isnt wowing with athletic moves. I think he's a competent bench player and can help offense move with slashing and passing.
Krecji will not hesitate to shoot if open but is more looking to facilitate.

I couldn't tell by the other posts if we signed him or some thought we should. So to clarify yes we did sign him. From NBA.Com.
The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has signed guard Vít Krejčí (veet KRAY-chee). Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.
Krejčí, 6-8, spent last season with the Atlanta Hawks where he totaled 36 points and 26 rebounds in 29 games. Prior to the Hawks, he played his rookie season with the Oklahoma City Thunder averaging 6.2 points on 40.7% shooting, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 30 appearances (eight starts).
The Strakonice, Czech Republic native has played for the Czech Republic Men’s National Team since 2019. Most recently, he played three games in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2023 Poland-Estonia, where he averaged 14.0 points on 61.9% shooting, 5.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game.
Krejčí was originally selected by the Washington Wizards with the 37th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
The numbers he put up for the Czech National Team this year in 3 games were eye popping.

This. If the Wolves can sign him to their last two-way spot we get a PG prospect, low risk high reward project: a tall PG from Europe. Interesting that Connelly is not afraid to bet on young player who had injuries in the past, for instance Vando and Porter Jr. in DEN. Krejci was injured in Europe, rehab in OKC.
Gobert/Reid + Garza
Towns/Anderson/Miller
MCD/Brown/Minott
Edwards/NAW/Moore
Conley/Milton/McLaughlin + Krejci

Re: 2023 Free Agency
It is important to understand that many of these late signings are more for the Iowa Wolves than Timberwolves. We saw it last year with Ellerby and Dozier. I expect a couple more "Iowa Wolves" level guys to be signed, but I wouldn't put too much thought into it unless they have guaranteed money.

Looking at it realistically isn't fun. These signings will be the missing links that lead us to the Larry O'Brien trophy.

The real question is whether the Wolves fill their 15th roster spot and 3rd two-way spot before training camp.

I would welcome Lamar Stevens if they can get him. He's not starting quality, but he can guard multiple positions, plays hard and fits into a defensive culture, which this team may need.
I also wouldn't mind Payne, but I doubt he would sign here with Conley and Milton.
Finally, I've been pushing for Ross. I think this roster is missing a flame-thrower who can get hot backing up Ant.

Yes, I think we need another three point threat off the bench. There were some Doug Mcdermott for Naz trade idea floating out there but I don't think it's worthed. What about Bryn Forbes? (

Yes, I checked his numbers out after I watched the vid.
If this guy sees minutes this year, we’re in trouble.

The Iowa Wolves have their Kyle Anderson!

J-Vando got 4/48 from Lakers...too much or just right?
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
