Most likely he's talking about MyCareer. You basically have to pay if you want your player to be good. I skipped out on that mode because of that

MyNBA is what im usually playing anyways and with the added Lebron era its really fun. No money needed for that mode

Yes they screwed up MyCareer to th point where you need to pay $500 to be able to compete in this mode. Most people are not happy with this. This was the reason WE BOUGHT THE GAME. Now I will not buy another one until they fix this.

If he wants instant gratification, then yes in my career there's a option to upgrade to a great overall quite fast, anyone who has bought a version other than the simplest version of the game, can upgrade quite quickly to a good overall to start off his mycareer journey.

I haven't played these since I think NBA 2k15. I have a Switch and read there was a glitch wherein if you change the country of origin in your Nintendo online account to Peru and then load up the Nintendo store on the Switch, you'll see the mamba edition which retails originally for $139.99 or something like that to what converts to $1.00 in USD. Couldn't pass that up. I'll try the Kobe stuff. Other than that I just play the online mode. Not interested in the MyCareer stuff.

I did end up buying it, and the gameplay to me is actually quite improved. It is also a lot easier to skip most of the dumbass storyline than it was in 23.

Imagine having a my career coming out of high school were you work your way up to the #1 recruit. Having the top programs offering you 10mil NIL deals to come play for their program.

I still play College Hoops 2k8. That game was ahead of it's time. You can create your own recruit and play with him in ABL games vs the top players in the country. That game still going for $120+ on Ebay. One of the best basketball games of all time imo.

I fell for it. Since I'm an offline player the gameplay only matters to me, and it's great.
I will never buy VC, and I actually bought the game second hand on a 40% discount lol.

Meh, to me it's virtually the same game from 2k17 and on, I may be in the minority there. Was mostly a PlayNow Online guy, but that's turned into a joke. I miss the days when you could just pick a team while seeing your opponent pick theirs. Now it's all about Tiers and fairness.

I could also be wrong and the game could be amazing. I never really gave the other game modes a chance. Didn't have time for them.

Yearly releases for sports games are pointless, especially since the addition of online updates. It’s just copy and paste the previous games, but make one small little tweak and just push that little change in marketing to make it sound like it’s a brand new game.

EA and 2k won’t change until people stop buying these games every year. People are essentially paying $60-70 every year for a roster update.
