Been experimenting in the lab with a "no takes" style. Not sure if it's ready for prime-time (real gm dot com slash bucks) but the first post is always the hardest.imo

Sports fans: "I wish athletes would stop with the cliche answers all the time. It'd be refreshing if they were actually honest and spoke their minds"

*Enter Rodgers and Giannis*

Sports fans: "What a bunch of a-hole attention whores!!"

Like I said, WI sports fans are f'ing weird. They treat their superstars like ****. This isn't Kevin Porter Jr and Antonio Brown ffs.

Saying we wish Giannis would stop talking about it isn't "treating him like ****". Nothing is going to happen until next summer. He'll either sign an extension or demand a trade then. I love the guy and hope he finishes his career here. AND I'm tired of him talking about maybe leaving. It's ok to sometimes be critical. To say that's treating him like **** is being disingenuous.

Not comparing, pointing out how weird and petty WI sports fans are. Rodgers is the best QB the team has ever seen. And people turned on him as if he did some really f'ed up stuff.

The winner comment is kinda funny tho. I dont really understand how a guy who shot 43% from the line could describe himself as a winner when he single handedly could have saved that disaster of a playoff series

The point stands though. Why does any of it matter? Don't most people tune in to watch the best of the best do it in their respective sport? And what Rodgers has said/done has frankly paled in comparison to other high profile athletes/entertainers. How many truly awful humans have made timeless, classic music, movies, and television? Pedophiles, serial cheaters, and drug abusers. You have to simply separate the art from the artist. Can't believe I just typed that in a freaking Giannis thread.

You got that right. He's getting roasted on some of those sights. That's ridiculous.

So the real question is how many firsts OKC will give up for him and how many championships he'll win there.

If i was born a Milwaukee Bucks fan, i would be mad as hell right now. I would let my feelings take over, like" f*** these comments, make a free throw first and be a winner later, trade his a** "and so on.

Right now, i am not angry but for sure these comments irritate me. I believe he will be fully commited this year and give everything he got. There are some things that bothered him. Maybe he sees that some teammates are not hungry enough for another championship. Pure speculation of course, but i think these teammates are Jrue Holiday and Bobby. I feel something is off. However, i don't think their bond is broken. Winning cures it all. These comments may lead to bigger commitment from all. Maybe they will start this season all guns blazing.
Of course, there is also a possibility some losses may put fire in lockerooms and for the first time since Jason Kidd, our lockerooms will be bad.

Yes, these comments put pressure on his teammates. But mostly, these comments put pressure on Giannis himself. If he still misses freethrows, if he still don't make his jumpers, these comments will backfire. If you are impeccable, you have every right to say things like "I AM WINNER, EVERYBODY SHOULD BE ON THE SAME PAGE" and so on. But if you are just "very good" and don't play at superstar level, prepare yourself because NBA fans are ruthless and love to kill their idols.
Only a dumb person would ignore all these things. Giannis ain't no Albert Einstein but he ain't no dumb either. I am sure he is gonna sacrifice himself for his team this year and he is gonna give great performances.
If so, and his teammates sh*t the bed, yes, he is gonna leave. And noone could blame him i think, even the diehard Bucks fans.
This would not be disastrous for Milwaukee, i mean, if Giannis is still top-2 this year, Bucks could get a haul for him.

The disastrous scenario would be Giannis plays like s--t, everyone turning on another, bad lockerooms etc. Can Griffin as a rookie coach, handle all this s--t?

In any case, i'll be honest, i also don't like some things Giannis has said recently. You can't say "THERE IS NO FAILURE IN SPORTS" and then "I AM WINNER blah blah blah". You can't say " CHAMPIONSHIPS DON'T MATTER IF YOU DON'T GET THEM THE RIGHT WAY" and then "WHAT MATTERS MOST IS THE LARRY 0'BRIEN TROPHY".
It's sure refreshing hearing a superstar be real and honest. But your words should not contradict each other. And above all, you must respect your fans. Honesty for sure is respect. But there is no need to repeat and repeat the same things when you know they hurt. At some point, it's not honesty and respect anymore. But egoism.

Giannis loves Milwaukee and Milwaukee love Giannis. Not a good outcome if this love dies. What ever happens, we will always have 2021. Even if he leaves, his legacy should not be tarnished. I am not defending him right now, i am saying it from fans perspective, i think it will be good for the soul. Poisoning your heart, even if someone betrays you, it's not good for you.

But, as we all know, all of this won't matter during 2024 summer. Because Bucks will crush again everyone's soul on their way for the third championship. And Giannis/Khris/Jrue/Brook and Bobby will be too drunk at championship summer parade to remember any of this.

Giannis may have shot poorly from the FT line bs. Miami. But he also had to be hooked up with fluids after game 4, thanks to playing through his back injury.

An injury that didn't go away for game 5.

I'd like him to make free throws. But I'm going to put things in perspective.

Curious/fascinated as what way you think fluids and a back injury are related.

(I love Giannis and am not in any way questioning his heart or ability to play through injury)

As someone whose basketball playing days were ruined by lower back injuries, they're very much related.

He wants to weigh his options when he can next summer, wants to remain committed to winning for the Bucks and the org. to do the same. Not seeing some sort of veiled "F*CK MILWAUKEE" subliminal message in the weeds. All of the key players, especially the "Big Four" are tight with each other and share respect so I doubt there's some sort of ultra-subliminal beef happening, but then again who knows? Just gonna personally try and enjoy the season and see how Griffin approaches things.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS
