Ok so first. No he could not, Jon jones is arguably da goat… only one better imo gsp. Second - he’s lookin for a payday. trying to test the waters, seeing if there’s money in this.

It's no real argument yet. He has to go out and prove something(more than just 7-0 in a non ufc league) before anyone can take him seriously about a statement like this. Not that there's anything wrong with him believing it but I doubt he makes much of an effort. It'd be like some new rookie in the nba talking about beating MJ 1 on 1 back in 92.

There have been at least two retired/cut NFL players to fight in the UFC in recent years. No former NBA players as of yet, would be interesting see who would ever cross over?

Haha just “1 year of defense, I just need ground defense.”

Stopped the video right after that. There are lifers who are very good grapplers that struggle against Jon with grappling. DC was an Olympic wrestler and Jon out wrestled him.

When it comes to James Johnson and his fighting. He’s never fought anyone legit, the record of his fights don’t add up to the timeline he has talked about.

And you always have to take the black belts and records with a huge grain of salt when their parent is the head of the gym, especially if it’s not a well known gym. Mcdojo’s are all over the place and they hand out belts like no other.

But ya back to the original point, James Johnson gets tossed around like a rag doll from Jon. Jon could finish him knocking him out, ground and pound, or submission, basically however he chooses and whenever he chooses.

Im just wondering how the hell James Johnson is still in the NBA. I swear that dude sucks at basketball.

Im convinced he's getting roster spots to be a body guard.lmao

There's no evidence from a mma or kickboxing source that James Johnson has ever had a sanctioned fight. There are random fighters who fight once (and lost) on a local show in front of 3 fans who have records, but he doesn't. It can't be ruled out that he has had unsanctioned amateur fights behind his parents gym, but there's little reason to think he'd beat any pro fighter, let alone Jon Jones.

James Johnson is so weird. I've always found it interesting how he's had weight and conditioning issues in the past and yet he's a professional basketball player that also is apparently an mma fighter. You'd think an athlete like that would consistently be ripped and in peak physical condition.

Against the roided or non roided version? Isn't he the guy, who fails his drug test regularly?

Doesn’t matter. Jon can go a year without working out or training and touch no PED and he still would rag doll James Johnson.

This is basically equal to some dude who claims he was an elite basketball as a freshman in high school but has no proof of it. And then saying, give me a year and I could take LeBron.

Like him or not Jon is no lower than 3rd on the GOAT list of MMA.

I wonder what John Jamison and Jonas Johns have to say about this.

It's as simple and dumb as Lavar Ball saying he could beat MJ. Just attention seeking foolishness.

Yeah no chance. Jones would literally pick him up and slam him and then just smash James' face to bits.

Jon Jones literally has freak NBA player type proportions. He's 6'4" with a 7 foot wingspan. Doesn't have the explosion in his legs like he used to, but he is so damn functionally strong that he's beating up any NBA player who wants it. If you don't have grappling experience you're gonna get absolutely mauled by someone who has a lifetime of it at the highest levels.

James could probably beat almost every player in NBA history - 1000% every player in today's NBA but he'd stand no chance against 9/10 MMA guys at 205 or larger Jones would absolutely maul him.

This would go about as well as it went for Floyd Mayweather when he thought he could beat Isiah Thomas at basketball just because IT was hardly any taller than he was.
