HOU/TOR
Houston trades Jabari Smith, Kevin Porter, Jae'Sean Tate, 2024 BRK 1st unp, 2026 BRK 1st unp, 2028 1st swap rights
Toronto trades Pascal Siakam
Toronto kicks off a rebuild with Jabari, 2 1sts, and a distant pick swap. KPJ waived on the spot or re-routed for a long-term salary with a pick attached, he obviously never reports to the team. Toronto follows up with midseason trades for Poeltl, Trent, maybe OG, and move forward with a core of Barnes, Jabari, [OG], and a top 5 pick next year to duck under the protections on that pick they traded for Poeltl.
Houston clearly wants to build a playoff team and avoid giving OKC a primo pick. They're currently nowhere close, but Siakam could get them in the play-in. FVV/Green/Brooks/Siakam/Sengun + Amen/Whitmore/[Oubre signing?]/Eason/Landale could become something.

Re: HOU/TOR
Pascal has nowhere near this value.
Houston could just try and pursue him in free agency if he wants to be here.

Re: HOU/TOR
This is just way too much for what could end up being a one year rental.

Ridiculous. I wouldn't even trade Jabari Smith Jr straight up for Siakam on an expiring deal. And I'm a SPURS fan.

Re: HOU/TOR
I like the directional thought of turning Kevin Porters negative contract into a positive situation for Houston.
I’d tweak the trade tho:
Kevin Porter and JaSean Tate (salary)
Amen Thompson (blue chip prospect)
2024 BRK 1st (top 5 protected)
Fred VV / A Holiday
Jalen G / (Dillon B)
Dillon B / Tari E / C Whitmore
Siakam / Jabari P
Sengun / J Landale / J Green
That’s a very strong starting 5…needs a better backcourt bench though. For this reason Houston probably prefers to send out Jabari over Amen, as Siakam makes Jabari expendable.
Siakam will probably resign, given his relationships with Fred and Hakeem.

You aren't getting a blue chip prospect for Siakim.

this is way too much for an expiring Siakam. And does Houston really want to pair FVV and Siakam again?

They aren't trading Amen for Siakam, IMO, not even considering it. I don't think they'd trade Smith for him, either, at which point it doesn't really make sense to pursue. If they trade for an upgrade, they need to get a small forward or center. Maybe Ingram becomes available partway through the season?

Nice idea, but I think Hou is over paying. Jabari and a first is probably enough.Siakam is worth a blue chip, just not a blue chip++

Why wouldnt toronto just resign siakam to a market value contract and retain siakam’s incredibly valuable bird rights?

How are we defining market value here? What it will take for the Raptors to retain him, or the most he can get from another team next summer?

Raps are getting squeezed by other gms because they have 3 high end assets that all play pf.
Just resign siakam and og next offseason then go shopping.

Obviously, Siakam and O.G. have more trade value on long-term deals than as expiring contracts, but they both have to agree to re-sign with the Raptors, and if that happens (a big if), it will be because they're both on max contracts. It will be six months after they sign them before they can be traded. At that point, they'll either be seen as true max players, or as Middleton/Tobias Harris level guys who are good, but overpaid.
Also, I have O.G. as a natural SF.

You aren't getting Jabari for Siakam.
The disconnect here is Toronto fans think they control whether or not Siakam (and OG) resign in Toronto (or wherever they are being traded).
This is not reality.
The price teams are willing to pay for good, but pending unrestricted free agents, is not going to be high.

12 teams with solid cap space to sign free agents - some will resign guys but other can clear some space.
So - a guy like OG who is not going to get max money is opting out and looking for a nice bump.
Siakam, though studly, will be 30 years old. I doubt TOR goes over what SA or DET could (and probably will) throw at him.
So - I agree that TOR either needs to start signing these guys or dealing them for what they can get. A team that is cap strapped trying to win now is best bet. Dallas and even NY seem like good targets.
