I swear Washburn repeated what the Celtics themselves said and they treated it like he broke something. He literally said he didn’t know if he’s still upset, that he didn’t know anything... like the rest of us.

I would still look to trade Malcolm. I like him lots, but I dont see the need to pay him 23 million or whatever it is.
If a Brogdon deal could net a legit backup PF and a scorer backup SG you have to do it right?

Yup, slow news day.

Re: Welcome to Boston, MALCOLM BROGDON – (6MOY - 2023)
I don't understand how Malcolm could be that upset. It's not like he signed her as a free agent. We got him out of a boring, middling market and he became 6MOY here. Also, being traded to LA for a former All-Star isn't so bad.
There's probably a bit of a bad taste in your mouth after being pit in trade rumors, but I seriously doubt he's going to pull a James Harden or even be anything less than professional.

Not necessarily.
I think right now the roster construction is fine. Off the bench, we have the reigning 6MOY (a guard), we have Rob/Al, whoever doesn't start (arguably the best backup big in the league) and we have Hauser (wing who can shoot the lights out, low usage guy, hold his own on D).
That's the best 8 man rotation in the league.
After that, you have a scrappy guard who can shoot (Pritchard), a deep bench big who can fill in if our other bigs are hurt or are resting (Kornet) and a SF/PF combo who brings energy, strength, rebounding and can score if you don't pay attention to him (Brissett).

We should just trade Gary Washburn to the Clippers for tickets to Disneyland and a bag of chips. Isn't he an LA native? Send him home.

On his LinkedIn it says he went to Cal Berkely and then out of college he covered the Clippers for a media outlet in LA for 5 yrs..

Making millions of dollars and living the good life, must be hard being Malcolm Brogdan.
If you're up for trade that's part of the deal broski, idk why any player would he upset by this, esp when you're as injury-prone as he is.

I don't know why you would believe a word that comes out of Gary Washburn's mouth..

Where?
Also, Mazzulla constantly trolls the media so I take what he says with a grain of salt. Unless I hear it from Malcom himself, there's nothing to see here.

(Robb) The team is insistent publicly and privately that Brogdon will be healthy enough for camp. Joe Mazzulla signaled that rebuilding the relationship with Brogdon is a work in progress after the failed trade to the Clippers but that’s an understandable situation given how little time has passed.

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla addresses the fractured relationship between Malcolm Brogdon and the organization after a failed trade attempt. While acknowledging the healing process, Mazzulla’s comments suggest that Brogdon’s future with the team is uncertain. The Celtics’ backcourt situation is fluid, with potential departures and restricted free agency looming.

This is the quote I am seeing:
https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2023/07/how-celtics-malcolm-brogdon-moving-on-after-trade-rumors-per-joe-mazzulla.html
“The organization has had a few conversations,” Mazzulla said. “I think anytime you are in a situation like that and you are in a relationship, you just have to take some small steps into it. There is a healing process, there is a listening process and to see where we are at and where we have to get to.”
“We’ve had some conversations as an organization,” Mazzulla said. “But at the same time, we understand that the situation that it was and as the healing process goes on, we will move forward as well as you can.”
Nothing to see here, imo.
Mazzulla often times in interviews comes across as an overly sensitive guy. Case in point, a reporter will ask him about what he will tell Smart after Smart just got ejected from a game and Mazzulla will say "that I love him" lol.
Also, this article is from July 26. Just about 2 months ago. It was a slow news day and slow time of year for basketball coverage (after FIBA ended but still a couple weeks before training camp) so Washburn for some reason is taking a quote out of context from 2 months ago. And he's trying to turn it into a story about Brogdon, when the quote isn't even by Brogdon!
Side note: I'm a former sports reporter in NH. Long time ago, it was like mid August, slow time of year for football/basketball coverage. I took a quote that a HS basketball coach told me in March and took it kind of out of context and included it in an article that was controversial, to try and get clicks and create some buzz on my site. That coach was PISSED. He called me up, furious..so I think I know how to spot this type of BS reporting.

This looks like pure speculation. This reads like a reporter that is trying to reach and turn something into a story that isn't a story, to get some clicks during a slow time of year, before training camp..
No facts, no stats, no concrete evidence, no quotes..no video...just speculation..

Meh. -- We would have Traded Brogdon, Iff he was healthy enough.
That should tell you Everything.
I'm still reeling over the fact that we had to Trade Smart, over this Guy.

Brogdon is a STud ! If I am certain of his health he's not going anywhere.
BUT we can't ever be certain, same with Rob and KP...
ANY lateral move where we get back something close to MB on court level but also clean injury track record is VERy much welcome ! can't have 3 of our top 6 injury-prone
