Re: Welcome Kelly Oubre
Ya'll are so damn hard on Korkmaz...SMDH...Can't believe it man. He's simply never, ever been used the way he should be here and that is the only thing that has held him back. Give him consistent minutes, put him in a shooters role where he's coming off screens and stretching the floor and you'd see a different player. Korkmaz has the same problem Shake has I think and that is that they both need to catch fire in order to do anything. Unfortunately, Korkmaz and Shake were both destroyed by Doc Rivers.
Watch and see, Korkmaz will end up in Sacramento or OKC and turn up....Same way Isaiah Joe did.

Huh? He's a three point specialist who is bad at three point shooting. He's been teammates with Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and James Harden, three players who can either find shooters or draw attention away from them and Furkan still never solidified his spot as a 7th or 8th man.
Korkmaz apologists are an interesting breed. Let's look at the facts. He's played under more than one coach, along side many different teammates over six seasons and still couldn't find a spot in a league begging for three point shooters. He's a small time player mentally. It is what it is. Shake was also closer to bad than good. These guys could maybe thrive as bench players on lottery teams, but even at this stage in their careers I doubt it.
The reason the Sixers are weak in the postseason is the FO's inability to identify and draft/acquire supplemental role players who can perform above their level in high pressure situations. So they hang on to false hope of a few prospects for waaaay too long. Some Sixer fans are similar as they fall in love with November and January performances from young guys and replay that love affair in their minds for half a decade when it's the only merit on the player's resume.
I truly wonder what it is. Do you guys use Korkmaz in 2K and attribute it to reality? He's not it.

Oubre has been shooting way too much. If you're between 30-35%, then it's good to shoot 3s to keep the defense honest. 7+ attempts per game at that % is not keeping the defense honest. It's hurting the team.
But a new team and scheme could mean he shoots less and always better shots, meaning a better percent too.

The biggest indictment for Furk is that he never developed a 2-man game with Embiid. Every good shooter who’s ever played with Embiid has figured out a way to feast off that spacing.

Last season in CHA was a sh*tshow. Lamelo only played like 30 games due to injury & they didn’t have Miles Bridges all year. The season before with healthy Lamelo he actually shot ~35%.
I’ve never been a close watcher of his game before tho so I’ll be curious to see what Nurse can get out of him. Other than Harden, he’s coming into a pretty great locker room with plenty of leadership.

Cha spams fastbreaks and push the pace for full 48, thats how Oubre averaged 20 with low. I think he’d just averaged 8 low side, 12 realistically and 15 high side, for our team next season but with better %.
Nice to see we try to add someone who has length and dunk, aside from shooting 3s.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Its good for once to have an tall athletic wing with some talent and at the vet minimum its a no brainer.
On the other side of things, I dont really expect Kelly freaking Oubre to turn our season around, he has never played winning basketball anywhere before.

Still a better fit than Tobias Harris.

Not true. He's played on two playoff teams (that one one series) and a play-in team (that lost), but all over .500 ball.

Oubre has never been a good player, hence the discount price tag. Hopefully Nurse can get something out of him.

Re: Welcome Kelly Oubre
I’ll say this, he was at his career high in spg and FTA per game last year. Seemed to be hitting a career high in a lot of areas. He moves well without the ball to get his points. Prob would be a good pickup for the Nuggets, but would have been buried, unlike with us.
His shot form is completely fraudulent. Yea, he shot 76% from FT, but look at his FT and 3FG% over the years: it’s all over the place. He’s a steal hunter instead of the laying actual good defense.

Right. He's the exact opposite of a good role player since he can't shoot 3's and doesn't play good D. Has the physical talent but has never "got it" to become a good player.
Hopefully Nurse can bring it out of him. Get him into the BBall Paul shooting program lol.

I think he's better than McDaniels was. Probably the best of bunch of wings we've got on the team (Korkmaz, House, Green), not that that's saying much. That's a good add for the minimum that could potentially help the team.

JJ is a decorated shooter and Household name NBA he shouldn't be compared to Korkmaz. Reddick was a starter most of his career and made playoffs most of career .

Kork needs the ball in his hands and 12-15 shots to be effective. The problem is he’s not good enough to demand that. RHJ could put up great counting numbers too if he’s handed the keys like Jordan did, lol.

Re: Welcome Kelly Oubre
This move seems to still be underrated for this team.
I like the fact that he'll take open shots, teams will guard him unlike Tucker as he can get hot; and he's a prominent slasher, and transition player.
He can defend, and gets after it. It's up to the coach to get him to play smart and within the team on both ends. When a team relies on him being a top scorer they likely won't win. He's a 4th option at best, even without Harden playing here.
As I fantasize about this team without James, I would like to see Kelly start. His biggest factor will be as a gunner with the none Joel lineups, so 6th man makes sense, but without Harden's offense you can't start Tucker.
Maxey/Melton/Kelly/Harris/Joel is a damn good lineup, especially with the type of offense Nurse prefers. They can be a quicker team, and get out and run (Tobi is a great transition scorer, despite perception) with Joel as a quality trailer that can shoot or drive on an unset defense.
With Harden (sigh)... I'd still like to see him start, but that could allow for maybe a Melton entry to remain with starters due to Kelly being able to play the 2 with the bench.
Morey did a nice salvage job
