Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
The arm talent was always going to be there especially that Doubs fade was a thing of beauty but he really looked poised NFL vet last night. He killed it on 3rd downs, seemed to go through his reads and find the open man most of the time (some bad throws but that is fine) and looked to be calling the right audibles. He will never be as good as Rodgers but the entire team seems to fight tooth and nail for him which is something we haven’t seen in a while. The way the team is built I can easily see a long successful run like the past without Love being a hall of famer.

Imagine his numbers if Musgrave can stay on his feet.
Still has some accuracy things to clean up, but the arm talent and poise is there. Can’t wait to see the offense as it develops. Musgrave and Reed both look like they are going to be open frequently and that should only improve once Watson is back.

That 2nd TD to Doubs after the Musgrave fall was a called run. Doubs is the guy. Love didn't even call an audible, Doubs just knew the drill.

He is certainly the guy on those routes but I think Watson will be the deep ball guy that was missing yesterday. Wouldn't shock me if they have the go deep nod going for those two.

He said what he said
Gute's gonna trade up to draft a 12-year-old to be Love's understudy from '34-'36 and replacement in '37. The beat goes on.
I think accuracy is always going to be a bit of weakness for him compared to great QBs, but that's just a hunch. The real takeaway for me was that he looked like he just flat-out knew what he was doing the whole time. The protection was probably part of that, but he had total command of the routes and plays, and his reads and timing were excellent. It was extremely impressive.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Well, two weeks in and he has the top overall quarter back rating. That's not nothing.

Conversely theres some underlying stuff that says theres probably cause for concern.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
Too early. Mostly good with some bad sprinkled in. Rodgers first two games as a starter he was really good. 115.5 and 104.2 (both lower than Love's). Then his next 2 were 80.1 and 55.1. He threw 3 picks in game 4. He also threw 3 picks in game 11. It was up and down for him. The team was 6-10.
The odds of Love equaling Rodgers are very slim. My point is there will be a lot of ups and downs this year. His first two games were very good, and yes not perfect.
I'm anxious to see what he looks like after 25 starts.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
To be honest, I don't really see any cause for concern.
He's made mistakes and had some off throws. Stuff you would expect from inexperienced QBs but also not out of the ordinary from vets.
But the downside to moving on to Love was Fields, Wilson, Lance, Jones, Darnold, Rosen, Trubisky, Lynch, Mariota, Bortles, Manziel, Manuel, or Weeden. I think it's already obvious he isn't going to be a bust. He looks like a solid, capable starter. His arm and athleticism raise his ceiling quite a bit.
The question now is whether or not he can smooth out his game a bit.

Left side of the OL injuries and basically all 1st/2nd year pass catchers isn't going to be ideal for consistency. I think he has accuracy issues to clean up for sure, but he can make all the throws.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
To me, the one thing I need to see is consistency/proficiency on passing downs. I'm not concerned but that's all I still need to see.
He is above average/good/great already at hitting a guy on a crossing route on a play action. He can drop a nice fade route in.
When we are losing/down by 7 and it's a bunch of passing downs in a row, can he move the ball up and down the field?
I admit that I missed a good deal of the Bears game, so this may be incomplete.

I agree with this. A big part of being a successful QB in this league is timing and making plays when you need to. Game managers are opportunistic in that regard, and I feel like that's where Love has been to this juncture, not that that's not an encouraging thing through his first two games as the bonafide starting QB.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
All I know is if I am a Bears fan I am so pissed right now thinking that there is even a chance the Packers drafted a third HOF QB in a row while we just keep drafting bust after bust.
I know there is a LONG way to go, but just the fact that there is even a slight chance of that would make me want to stop watching football.
Imagine MJ retiring and the Bulls bring Kobe off the bench, then Kobe retires and the Bulls bring Lebron off the bench. How maddening would that be for Bucks fans?

I don't understand why the Bears don't just let Fields do what he does best: run. Make him a run-first, pass-second QB. Sure, his body might fail him by the time he's 30, but his 20s could be real good.

I have too many bears fans friends and they've already switched from Fields is awesome to 'we're going to get Williams' they are also happy they didn't draft the little mini QB from Alabama. (They might be right on that one)Profound23 wrote:All I know is if I am a Bears fan I am so pissed right now thinking that there is even a chance the Packers drafted a third HOF QB in a row while we just keep drafting bust after bust.
