Haven't been keeping current on this thread, has anyone threw out the conspiracy theory that Giannis is saying he might leave to try and increase the value of the future 1st rounders as trade chips?

If not Id like to plant that flag

If Thanasis had signed a 2 year deal with the Knicks the national media would be **** themselves with excitement about Giannis’s impending FA and decrying how stupid the Bucks were to give them an in, there no winning. I don’t believe Thanasis has denied anybody a spot that deserved it and would have been a contributor.

He'll cop a bit of **** for a while and then the news cycle will move onto the next disgruntled player. If he creates a new super team with Luka or some other star they'll be awesome and people will get over it. I don't think his situation will ever get Durant level bad unless he joins the Celtics or something.

I guess but this is not a real controversy. The people who'd care about it most are Bucks fans and some of us find it mildly annoying but agree that it's a small price to pay, which is how any group of fans for any team would feel about having Giannis AND Thanasis on the roster.

Ultimately, if you have Thanasis because you have Giannis, you have Giannis.

Maybe Giannis really doesn't care, but he's going to get hit with an absolute avalanche of criticism and sarcastic comments this season and it's going to be 110% his own fault.

We're still 2 weeks away from training camp and Shannon Sharpe is already clowning him, you know it's going to get bad. Giannis has made it where every time Thanasis looks like he doesn't belong on an NBA court, or every time Giannis shoots 50% from the free throw line, it's going to be under a microscope now.

Like I've said before, Giannis really isn't wrong and I wouldn't really blame him for leaving if the Bucks didn't have a real commitment to winning. But this is an incredibly bad look for Giannis to say stuff like this publicly.

Could you imagine if the Knicks had the best record in the league, only to lose 1-4 to an #8 seed. With Giannis shooting 10-23 from the free throw line in a 2pt loss in overtime. In the game (at home) that ended their season.
