Training camp is going to be real interesting. Banton, Walsh, Svi, Hauser, Payton, Oshae, Lamar; lots of guys competing for minutes! I like it.

I like that as soon as Austin Rivers expressed his desire to join the Celtics, Stevens filled up the last open roster spot lol. Not discounting the possibility that either Pritchard or Brogdon gets traded and a need for a ballhandler opens up but I doubt it.

We all know that White, Brown, Tatum, Rob, Porzingis, Brogdon (if healthy and not too pissed) and Horford are our top seven on the team. Camp battles are only going to make 8-15 better. I see Brissett, Hauser, and Svi as the top 3 talent of the above list. Stevens and Walsh will get some burn due their defense. I like Banton's size as a ball handler and think if he is used right could amount to a steal. I can live with Banton as a 3rd PG, if Pritchard is moved, but not as a 2nd PG should Brogdon not be able to go. I trust that Brad will have the Brogdon situation under control before the end of camp. If Brogdon is too injured or really pissed off, Brad will make a move with him early on. I really don't feel either will be the case, and Brogdon will be fine. Hope I'm right. We will also see some Queta with the big club when Horford, Rob and Porzingis get rest time off, and maybe even some Jay Scrub if needed. I think a big problem will be what 2 players will not be dressed on game day since we can only dress 13.

I still see Payton gone before the all-star break, or sooner. If I were Brad I would try and be part of the Lillard trade, with Payton going home to Portland for some draft capital return. Brissett, Kornet, Svi and Banton each cost less than 1/2 of what Payton is making this year and will be looking for a bigger payday or moving on next season. His qualifying offer next season is 6 million, and I'm not sure he is worth that. Also, at being 6'1, he and also JD (I really am concerned if JD is really anything more than a 3rd team PG) I could see both moved. I think Brad is done with undersized players at their positions, getting singled out on the defensive end, and that is why he signed Banton.

If Davison plays 50 games for Boston, we're in big trouble. He didn't play any meaningful minutes last season and that is likely to be the case this season as well. He's just not an NBA player - not yet at least.

It wouldn't shock me if JD gets waived and Steward takes his 2-way spot. Steward was clearly the better player in summer league.

If Brogdon's whole situation is mostly media based, and Brad gets it all under control by end of camp, I would like to see Brad get in on the Lillard trade (not trying to get Lillard at all) using Pritchard, maybe some draft capital, to get a better, bigger backup point guard. Chicago has been mentioned as a possible trade partner with Portland. Maybe we can get one of Chicago's point guards, since Portland doesn't need a starter with Henderson, Simons and Johnson already there. If we send Pritchard to Portland along with a couple seconds for a point guard as a three-team deal with Chicago getting Lillard would be great. Pritchard could be a good second team point, with a good three-point shot for Portland, along with what else they get from Chicago.

The size of the Celtics, in theory, automatically upgrades their defense.

If Lamar is going to be a part of the 10-man rotation, only PP is the mouse in the house, so to speak.

I tell you guys, Brad has done a great job improving this team this year.

Also, because of the rule changes the last few years, size matters in the NBA.

It's a good thing Brad realized that.

Size and shooting. Both of them are very important in today's NBA.

Agree with what you wrote, except the Hauser part. Maybe I under value him, mostly based on his second half of season performance. At this point, it's up to him to come in with the attitude that a rotation spot is his, and someone has to take it from him. Hard to say how Brad and Joe will handle the positions because we haven't had this problem.

Hauser is the best shooter on the team when he's got it going; now he has to show a veteran attitude and get after it. He showed signs of not being the defensive pushover opponents expected, but still needs to build on his successes.

To my eyes ( but not seeing Svi with Celtocs yet of course), Mykhailiuk can do what Hauser does, and more. Those two will be competing for minutes and must realize that their defense is going to be a major determining factor.

You want a better, bigger backup PG than Pritchard? We already have that - Malcolm Brogdon.

Who do you suggest we get from Chicago? At PG all they have is Jevon Carter, Ayo Dosunmo (combo guard who is probably more of a 2 than a 1) and Coby White (combo-guard who is definitely more of a 2 than a 1).

I don't think Chicago would want to move any of those 3 guys.
