Smart drive by Bonner on JJ. 4th foul. Quid pro quo.

Allen is being guarded well. But she's in familiar surroundings and means to prove something.

Re: 2023 WNBA Playoff Thread
BIG turnaround by Suns. 13 point swing from half time after leading for most of the 1st half and waning.
Both teams have key players in foul trouble.
JJ might get a fine for that comment about the refs. She's right, but those calls have gone both ways.
Gut time, clutch time, hustle time, execution time.

These sideline IN-GAME interviews with coaches have to go. Can't distract a coach in game like that.
Can you imagine an NBA coach agreeing to this? No way.

That was a great set play to get Bonner open for the 3.

Uh oh... Bonner on fire. Crowd and Liberty in shock. Wow. Big uphill battle just got steeper for NY.

Why expose the ball like that? Unnecessary flash after a good steal that results in a missed reward by getting blocked.

I'm trying not to get ahead of myself but this is pretty amazing lol.
Sun straight up Out-Dawging the Liberty.
I of course <3 Dewanna but I'd be remiss to not mention I <3 Bec Allen too. And it goes without saying that I <3 AT.
Now I just need this round to be declared single elimination haha. Get it done, Engelbert!

I mean you don't expect such variance from 3 from Stewie of all players, but NY have had trouble scoring last round, too. Their D got them back in. But you have to still score some. They have SIX points in the 4th Q with 2:45 left. Oof...

Hoop has an invisible lid. It's mental for NY at this point.

Sun have made that bounce pass to a cutter in the key several times today. The double didn't work, and the cutter was wide open.

Woot woot!
Liberty need to take better advantage of their size and win the rebound battle going forward. And generally raise their intensity. And put the ball in the basket. They were pretty shook by the struggles today but I imagine they'll shake it off and bounce back.

Re: 2023 WNBA Playoff Thread
Liberty nowhere near done. You can't expect them, especially Stewie from 3, to shoot this poorly.
But full credit to Sun for the pushback, for learning from the regular season, for determined D which kept Liberty off their rhythm. When Hayes got into foul trouble, they adjusted. When JJ was down low, they corralled her. Allen was an absolute beast on both ends. Bonner exploded in the second half.
Very physical game.
NY has had clunky O for a while now in the POs. Feels like teams have something figured out. Opponents have made adjustments, NY have not on O and made it harder on themselves. Maybe it's just a matter of making 3s. They tend to be a fig leaf for a lot of things that aren't working. But when they don't fall, they also expose what's not working.
Needless to say, huge game 2 coming up.
