I think Ayton, OG and precious to Portland, nurkic and Gary to suns, Dame to raps is fair.Portland doesn’t need another wing shooter.

He thinks barnes makes a top 15 player jump this year and gradey dick is a future all nba player and its a ridiculous idea to not be rebuilding/retooling around these 2.ForeverTFC wrote:Reeko wrote:mintsa wrote:

Haven't seen your posts on this. Are you against the trade? What's the rationale? Cap implications and delay of rebuild?
Heavy kool aid basically.

We need to keep 1 of OG or Precious. OG going out makes sense because he wants an expanded role so won't re-sign with us anyway. We need to keep Precious because he's the only guy with the potential to replace OG defensively in the starting 5, and if he just focuses on 3&D exclusively, can replace OG offensively as well.

For me, if it's between Dick and Precious, I'd prefer to keep Dick... We need reliable shooters going forward.

Guys like Precious are a dime a dozen in the NBA. Nothing special about him. You dont blow up a deal for a superstar over a rotation player who is easily replaceable. Other thing to keep in mind is its easier to attract role players in the NBA when your team is competitive. Assuming we are a contender with Dame, we'll be a player in the buyout market, free agency, etc. Guys are willing to sacrifice money for a chance to play for a title.

Fair. I’m not high on Precious. I thought the McDaniels pick up made precious expendable.

I've been down on Masai/Bobby at times, but even I don't think they're stupid enough to hold out on this trade because of Precious fkn Achiuwa

I tend to agree that OG or Precious should stay. To me, OG is the guy they have invested in. NBC Sports has what I think is the likely (not actual) best offer from Toronto:
Toronto can put together a trade package that does not involve any of Siakam, Barnes or Anunoby — a deal based around Dick, Gary Trent Jr., Chris Boucher, filler and a couple of first-round picks — and if part of a three-team deal with the Phoenix Suns that sends Deandre Ayton to Portland it might appeal to the Blazers. This trade makes sense for Toronto because a starting five of Lillard, Anunoby, Barnes, Siakam and Jakob Poeltl, with some depth, could move into top-flight contender status in the East. However, does that trade still make sense for Portland? For that matter, does any iteration of this trade without Barnes make sense for Portland and could Toronto’s front office change its mind if it’s Barnes or bust for the deal?

If Masai can pull off some magic like this, I think this is a homerun for Toronto because ultimately from what has been reported Masai wants to build a title team around Siakam and OG.
Tor
Lillard
Pho - I think getting off from Ayton's deal and retaining two rotation level players is their ultimate goal.
Trent Jr.
Nurkic
Por - Ayton fits their timeline and will be great for Scoot, Dick and Achuiwa plus 2 firsts seems fair.
Ayton
Boucher
Dick
Achuiwa
Draft comp.

I think if OG is going, then Masai tries to hold onto all three of Barnes, Precious and Dick. Barnes is obviously not even contemplated in the deal, Precious replaces OG, and Dick replaces GTJ.

This was the trade I started floating around a few days ago as being our best case scenario. We can even expand that trade to include the Nets where they send Finney-Smith for Trent.
Realistically, I'd expect OG to replace Trent while we keep Precious.

I don't see the Portland having any interest in GTJ whatsoever. He has all the same faults as adding Herro while being a worse version, especially in a contract year with a logjam at guard.
As much as value OG, he isn't enough from a player perspective to build a Dame package with. If I'm Portland, i'd be pushing for both Precious and Dick. Those 3 + Boucher work. From our perspective, its a lot of potential to give up but its Damian friggin Lillard. He completes us and allows to realistically compete this year.

Re: Damian Lillard Trade Request Part 3
Most of the league is role players. Gradey Dick projects as a high end complimentary player similar to MPJ on Denver. Most teams really only need 2 high usage scorers. Once you have those, its preferred to have role players in the rest of the roster. There's only one ball, so many possessions and so many minutes in these games. Can't always view these players in isolation. Dick fits the roster in Portland as they project Scoot & Sharpe as their top 2 usage scorers. Being good off ball is an entirely different skillset.
Neither Jacquez or Jovic are the shooter that Gradey is, nor will they likely ever be. Jacquez is a 4 year college player and in 2023, he should have limited trade value especially to a rebuilding team that just drafted Kris Murray.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Which is why 'role player' is an awful label in terms of actually gauging and assigning value.
