I don't see the Portland having any interest in GTJ whatsoever. He has all the same faults as adding Herro while being a worse version, especially in a contract year with a logjam at guard.

As much as value OG, he isn't enough from a player perspective to build a Dame package with. If I'm Portland, i'd be pushing for both Precious and Dick. Those 3 + Boucher work. From our perspective, its a lot of potential to give up but its Damian friggin Lillard. He completes us and allows to realistically compete this year.

If the Suns interest in Nurk is real, I see GTJ going to Suns, along with Nurk for Ayton, who would go to Portland.

Suns wouldn't have an issue with GTJ coming off the bench.

I think the Suns interest in Nurkic is just pure off-season rumors. Why the hell would they be interested in swapping Ayton for Nurk.. Nurk @ 16.8m, 18.1m and 19.3m is an albatross of a contract.

Ayton for Nurkic and GTJ is a vacuum is a horrendous trade from their perspective. They'd end up paying more for those two guys on GTJ's next deal and his impact would be minimized next to Beal, Booker and Durant.

I don't really understand the interest in swapping Ayton for Nurk, but if the rumors are true, then the Suns really want to get Ayton out of there at all costs. I guess in that case, maybe they value Nurk's toughness over Ayton?

The Suns might not have to pay a lot much more for GTJ, and their ability to bring in additional players is so limited, so a 2 for 1 deal might be appealing.

When people realized our team is stronger if we also keep OG lol. This thread is wild. We went from Barnes as the centrepiece, to OG as the centrepiece and now we'll use Barnes for Giannis, and now to GTJ as the centrepiece. Soon it will be just Dick as the centrepiece.

Is it even feasible to keep OG and pay him his worth? Someone please chime in with the tax implications around the core of Lillard, OG, Barnes, Siakam and Poeltl. Presumably, Barnes will get something close to the rookie max extension next summer too that will take into effect in 2 years.

No, it's not feasible. The starting lineup would be 164M (Siakam @ 50M and OG @ 35M). Add in the bench and you are deep into the tax with a Scottie extension looming.

Of course it's feasible, if you're winning and making deep runs in the playoffs. If you don't think that will happen, then no, silly move.

I have to trust Masai that if a Lillard trade happens, he and his brain trust feel they can push deep into the playoffs, as most certainly the team will be a tax team.

And for all we know Por (wisely) is demanding Barnes to be included, which would be a no go.

Because let's be honest, if Barnes was available in the trade, the trade would have been done long ago. Portland would accept the offer and ran.

Miami is doing what's in his their interest

Portland is doing what's in his their interest

Possibly, but I believe that if Masai traded for Lillard, it's with the knowledge that they will be a possible tax team next season, as the window is tied to Dames 4 year term. Who knows, though, might be over to start 2024/25 but depending on moves they might slip just under; I just believe that permission is already there at that point.

At least 3 times a year for the past 4 years, Stephen A will bring up that the Raptors would have lost in 2019 if KD was healthy and that he feels they would have lost if Klay didn't get hurt too.
