Sorry guys but I am not sure why Damian Lillard would agree to come here....it's not like he's the last missing key piece for us

In 2017-2018, we were 1st seed and got swept by lebron in the 2nd round.....so we went and got Kwahi to put us over the top the following season.

What make you think we could do it again with Damian Lillard this time? Last year we lost the play in game!!!!
How can we convince Damian Lillard to stay if he's getting traded to here?????

   I'm confused right now.

That trade actually works in the trade checker. Seems like adding a first from the Raptors or Suns would unbalance it.

I think Monday. But I bet if the deal is close and talks are on going they will agree that he does not have to show up. Hoping I’m wrong though and this is resolved before then.

The acquiring team will want Dame to show up for media day, so it will get done before then. Portland just has to put a clock on Miami and ask them to beat Toronto's offer. Then they can return to Toronto and ask them if they want to beat Miami's offer. This should be wrapped up soon, imo. Give Dame a day or two to process and then check out his new home.

Yeah, but it will still get exhausting for everyone on the team to be asked about it. I'm sure Portland wants to avoid that.

Giannis will most likely request a trade any time in 2024

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Suns need to move off Ayton while he's still young enough that another team thinks they can fix/improve him.

Honestly the 3 way just makes too much sense from all the rumours that have been floated. Just comes down to where OG goes and if it's to Portland, what does Phoenix get in addition to Nurkic. Raptors can't afford to trade all 3 of OG/Trent/Dick while trying to put out a winning product.

The Raptors overwhelming issue was the lack of a true number 1 option on offence and poor perimeter shooting.

Of all the players in the NBA, he’d be a top3? Choice to add to lineup.

He’s good enough to drag league worst lineups to .500.

Siakim, Trent, Barnes, Poetl, Schroeder is solid AF.

I think Masai is betting on Scottie taking a huge leap this year as well. Only way this makes sense

I think this would interest them because of all the salary they tied to their top 4. It’s them and a bunch of minimum guys really. If they can substitute one of them in Ayton, who’s way overpaid and not good, for two good NBA starters, the Suns will find more sicccess, certainly.

1) GTJ isn't a guaranteed starter and most certainly wouldn't be on this Suns team
2) Nurkic isn't starter quality either. He is injury prone and isn't someone known for his lateral quickness or his rim protection as a deterrent.

You're right about Nurk being a very limited player at this point, imo if the Suns are moving Ayton, Precious would be a great fit for them. Getting GTJ, Precious and Nurk for Ayton would actually solve a lot of their depth/versatility issues.

Except that doesn't work in the trade checker. It would be Precious and OG and Ayton to Portland, Lillard to Toronto and Nurk and GTJ to Phoenix to make it work.

And that's fair to all parties.
Toronto doesn't know if Lillard would demand a trade next summer (or at the trade deadline), or what other problems he might cause.
The Suns want off of Ayton's deal, and two smaller deals might not be the best fit (GTJ would HAVE to come off the bench) but at least it would make it easier for them to deal one or the other if necessary.
Portland gets Ayton and OG, who fit their team and timeline, plus Precious who could make trading Grant in the future an option.

Nobody is raping anyone else.

I think Portland does the best in that deal. But their fans might not like the return enough.

Still, isn't Ayton, OG and Precious a better return then the rumored Herro, Jovic and a couple firsts from Miami?

i mean i think the bet is getting a superstar on a long term deal. we then would have the option to flip scottie for another superstar if one becomes available to pair with dame and siakam.

This is such a no-brainer move. I don't see how anyone could question. This team has no starting PG and you're adding a top 5 PG (easy!) in the league.

This also raises the profile of the team and makes them a legitimate option for other all-stars looking to get traded to a contender.

Masai/Bobby were patient and its going to pay off.

my thoughts as well.

If Scottie takes the year 3 jump route like other starish players in the league, Raps are cooking - and it would help relieve the loss of OG a bit more.

Lillard, Siakam, Scottie would be a big 3. Siakam now has less pressure to carry and would go back to his #2 slot where he belongs. Scottie can attack on team's weaker defenders. Lillard would get to lead the way.

Blazer fan here, we are rooting for you guys to get Dame, am fine with that offer a few posts back, most POR fans just want this saga over and a fair return and if Miami gets screwed all the better!

Return to Toronto Raptors
