In 2017-2018, we were 1st seed and got swept by lebron in the 2nd round.....so we went and got Kwahi to put us over the top the following season.

What make you think we could do it again with Damian Lillard this time? Last year we lost the play in game!!!!
How can we convince Damian Lillard to stay he's getting traded to here?????

   I'm confused right now.

It is a good point and I would only say you have to manage your expectations. I think it is easy after a big trade to become fused to an idea that it is title or bust, but I don't think we need to put that pressure on. Toronto is not in a situation like 2018/19 where we made a huge trade for an expiring deal. Lillard is signed for a couple more seasons.

Phoenix lost in round 2 after trading the farm for Durant - a player coming off an Achilles injury and 34 years-old. But, they have him for a few years and they retooled again and now have Beal.

Toronto trading for Dame puts us in a fast track to make things happen, but it is not title or bust. He can simply be a great player being added to a roster that has a huge hole in that position post-Lowry. If this trade happens we now have an excellent point guard combo to add to our 6'9 all defensive team. To me it is about putting this best team you can out there while also keeping an eye on the future.

I currently don't like where we are with so much in flux with our current core. I look at Lillard as a way to consolidate decision making. You have Lillard plus Barnes and likely Siakam renews because he loves it here. That is good enough core to work with for 2-3 years.

This would be such a massive offseason for me if we get Dame. The 2 Raptor that I hated the most FVV and Nurse were shipped out, making this team infinitely more watchable. Re-signing Poeltl (one of my fav all time raptor) a C that we were missing all season and then upgrading our guard depth in Shroeder. Nailing our pick with the guy that I wanted. And now if we get Dame it's just cherry on top. Magical offseason.

Trade for Dame, extend Siakam. If Scottie makes a small leap, then package him with Poeltl for Embiid next summer. If Scottie makes a massive leap no further moves needed.

I'm at the point where I will be massively disappointed if this DOESN'T happen.

An unintended downside of any Dame deal is if it is a three-teamer, it might not be Phoenix involved.

Imagine Indiana or New York getting OG who both have wanted for a while and have been willing to give up picks for. OG to me is the ideal piece for any playoff team. One of the best multi-position defenders in the game that makes threes and is just hugely physical on both ends. He alone could push NY or Indy to a much higher level.

Toronto could end up helping other teams in our conference to level up. Not to mention making enemies for life with Miami. This is why I am only including Trent, Dick, Boucher, Thad/Porter and picks. People don't realize how good OG is.

Yeah, I wish Dame was just making the regular max. I think we could do this deal without OG, but the math just doesn't work past this season.

I'd like to keep OG as well and would add in extra picks if needed. Problem is how are we going to pay them all once extension kicks in?

Please do. You can even put it in your sig should that happen. Just know that Reekodamus is rarely wrong.

You're assuming Masai won't make follow up moves come the trade deadline like he did with Marc Gasol. I think the Lillard trade puts us in championship contention even if its at the bottom of that list at the moment.

As long as we're not sending out a bunch if draft capital, we can always tank later but at least we gave it a shot when it was possible.

Paying him will be tough, but we could revisit trading him at the deadline if an extension can't be worked out. MLSE has to be willing to go into the tax for this team, but I am not sure how it all works with Siakam, Lillard and other contracts. If Phoenix can have Beal/Durant/Booker/Ayton on $30 a year deals, so can Toronto especially after the TV deals come into effect.

The alternative is to keep doing nothing and stick around the .500 mark or lower. Not sure why anybody would be against a Lillard trade.

In all honesty, I am against the trade unless we absolutely fleece them. But if it's anything like OG+Gradey+multiple unprotected first rounders, I am vehemently against it. I understand that he would get us closer to being contenders, but I don't believe that we will have enough valuable assets to make another move that will make us true contenders, barring Giannis asking out and us putting Scottie Barnes on the table.

Maybe we could rebuild the right way and make it past the second round, like the Sixers.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

For real, some people acting like we're trading a Wemby like prospect for Dame where we're we'd be screwed if the trade doesn't workout. If it does, you trade Dame for a slightly less package probably. Just gotta ensure you don't trade too many future picks.
